Uraia Trust is a charitable trust, which works in the areas of civic education, civic engagement and institutional transformation. Uraia does this by facilitating the development of an engaged citizenry through the provision of quality civic education that enables Kenyans to realise their constitutional aspirations. Uraia’s Key Focus Areas for 2016-2020 are entrenching constitutionalism, promoting

free and fair elections, addressing the historical political marginalisation of women, youth, persons with disabilities, marginalised and minority groups and promoting internal excellence. Uraia works in Kenya through civic educators, implementing partners at the national and county level and the media. Uraia Trust also collaborates with the Government of Kenya at both the national and county level.

The development of citizen manifestos is giving residents a platform to articulate their priorities and hold leaders accountable to the issues that affect their everyday lives.

The cameras may have stopped rolling, but the stories will continue to inspire.

Cluster One of the SPARKe Success Stories Documentation Mission has officially concluded, taking us through Homa Bay, Busia, and Bungoma Counties, where we documented powerful stories of communities transforming their realities through civic education, social accountability, and active citizen participation.

From improved the SDGs in Homa Bay, to empowered civic educators strengthening accountability in Busia, and communities championing sustainable water solutions in Bungoma, each story is a reminder that lasting change begins when citizens are informed, organized, and actively engaged.
A heartfelt thank you to our implementing partners, community members, local leaders, and everyone who generously shared their experiences and welcomed us into their communities. Your voices are the heartbeat of these stories.

The County Validation Forum for the Nakuru County Citizen Manifesto is underway, bringing together citizens to define the development priorities that matter most to them.

A Citizen Manifesto is more than a document it is a social contract between citizens and those who seek to lead. It sets out the people's expectations ahead of the 2027 General Elections and provides a benchmark for measuring whether promises become action.

The Renewed Women Voices and Leadership (RWVL) Annual Partners Review Meeting continues to bring together implementing partners for meaningful dialogue, reflection, and collaborative learning.

Day 1 focused on strengthening programme governance, reviewing implementation progress, and reinforcing accountability—laying a strong foundation for the days ahead.

Today, Day 2 is underway with discussions centered on the Institutional Gender and Power Analysis (IGPA). Partners are engaging with key findings, sharing insights, and exploring how they can strengthen organizational capacity, partnerships, and programme implementation to better advance the rights of women and girls across Kenya.

As the conversations continue, one thing remains clear: lasting impact is built through collaboration, evidence-informed decision-making, and a shared commitment to gender equality.

Meaningful governance begins with informed and engaged citizens.

During the CSO Bootcamp (Cohort 3) under the Ajenda Yetu Programme, participants explored practical approaches to mobilizing communities around issue-based governance. Grassroots engagement remains a powerful pathway for amplifying citizen voices, fostering accountability, and driving sustainable change.

Together, we continue building a more informed, active, and empowered citizenry.
