free and fair elections, addressing the historical political marginalisation of women, youth, persons with disabilities, marginalised and minority groups and promoting internal excellence. 🗣️ Citizens shaping the agenda in Kitutu Chache South!

Through Ajenda Yetu, citizens in Kitutu Chache South, Kisii County, are coming together to identify the issues that matter most to their communities and shape a shared vision for better governance.

The development of citizen manifestos is giving residents a platform to articulate their priorities and hold leaders accountable to the issues that affect their everyday lives.

When citizens set the agenda, governance becomes more responsive. 🇰🇪

The cameras may have stopped rolling, but the stories will continue to inspire.

Cluster One of the SPARKe Success Stories Documentation Mission has officially concluded, taking us through Homa Bay, Busia, and Bungoma Counties, where we documented powerful stories of communities transforming their realities through civic education, social accountability, and active citizen participation.

From improved the SDGs in Homa Bay, to empowered civic educators strengthening accountability in Busia, and communities championing sustainable water solutions in Bungoma, each story is a reminder that lasting change begins when citizens are informed, organized, and actively engaged.
A heartfelt thank you to our implementing partners, community members, local leaders, and everyone who generously shared their experiences and welcomed us into their communities. Your voices are the heartbeat of these stories.

This is only the beginning. Stay tuned as we bring these stories of impact to life through documentaries, photography, and digital storytelling.

What if elections were not the only time citizens shaped their future?

The County Validation Forum for the Nakuru County Citizen Manifesto is underway, bringing together citizens to define the development priorities that matter most to them.

A Citizen Manifesto is more than a document it is a social contract between citizens and those who seek to lead. It sets out the people's expectations ahead of the 2027 General Elections and provides a benchmark for measuring whether promises become action.

Democracy is not only about choosing leaders; it is about ensuring leaders remain accountable long after the ballots are counted.

How can we strengthen citizen-led accountability beyond election day?

📍 RWVL Annual Partners Review Meeting 2026 | Day 1 Complete, Day 2 in Progress

The Renewed Women Voices and Leadership (RWVL) Annual Partners Review Meeting continues to bring together implementing partners for meaningful dialogue, reflection, and collaborative learning.

Day 1 focused on strengthening programme governance, reviewing implementation progress, and reinforcing accountability—laying a strong foundation for the days ahead.

Today, Day 2 is underway with discussions centered on the Institutional Gender and Power Analysis (IGPA). Partners are engaging with key findings, sharing insights, and exploring how they can strengthen organizational capacity, partnerships, and programme implementation to better advance the rights of women and girls across Kenya.

As the conversations continue, one thing remains clear: lasting impact is built through collaboration, evidence-informed decision-making, and a shared commitment to gender equality.

Together, we are strengthening partnerships, amplifying women's voices, and building a future where women and girls in all their diversity can thrive.

💬 Which partnerships or collaborations have inspired positive change in your community? We'd love to hear your thoughts.

🌍 Beyond Projects: The True Measure of Community Development

A road can be built. A school can be opened. A borehole can be drilled.

But the real question is: What happens after the project ends?

True community development is measured by empowered citizens, accountable leadership, and communities that continue to thrive long after external support has ended.

At Uraia Trust, we believe lasting impact comes from strengthening citizen participation, promoting accountability, and ensuring communities are at the heart of their own development.

"Grassroot engagement approaches are effective in strengthening citizen voice." – Zwena Zeituna, Uraia Trust Civic Educator, Isiolo

Meaningful governance begins with informed and engaged citizens.

During the CSO Bootcamp (Cohort 3) under the Ajenda Yetu Programme, participants explored practical approaches to mobilizing communities around issue-based governance. Grassroots engagement remains a powerful pathway for amplifying citizen voices, fostering accountability, and driving sustainable change.

Together, we continue building a more informed, active, and empowered citizenry.
