At Basic Needs Basic Rights Kenya, we believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to meaningfully participate in community life. However, for many people with disabilities, particularly in rural Kenya, a lack of access to essential assistive technology remains a significant barrier.
Through a collaboration with CBM Kenya CBM Ireland funded by Irish Aid, we are changing this narrative by providing vital assistive devices. We believe that an assistive device is not just a tool, it is a bridge to opportunity. By equipping individuals with the right physical, sensory, and cognitive support systems, we are unlocking doors to inclusive education, community integration and ultimately, economic empowerment, as we help dismantle social isolation and reduce the stigma often faced by persons with disabilities and their caregivers.
This work aligns directly with the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025, ensuring that inclusion is treated as a fundamental human right, not an act of charity. True community resilience is built when everyone has a seat and an active voice at the table.
