To promote ecological sound knowledge on sustainable agriculture, protection of water resources, chemical management etc amongst society, we follow the participatory approach. Hamana teaches people a process by which they can take charge of their lives and develop their own sustainable environmental programs. Most of our participatory development projects are small-scale, self-help and bottom-up.
Hamana proactively embarks on empowerment of people through education and community education projects to reduce conflicts between livelihood and sustainability. These projects focus on all different levels, including schools, public service, general public, politicians, and scientists. One main focus area will be the promotion and implementation of agroeoclogy and traditional farming systems. Through research, strategies to minimize the risk of agricultural activities towards the environment are identified and promoted and new and already existing knowledge will be made accessible to whole Africa. Especially in developing countries scientific findings are published in mostly international journals without transferring the knowledge to the communities or to stakeholders like government, media or general public. Hamana will fill the communication gap between scientists , communities and stakeholders by providing a virtual communication platform.
