Supporting teenage mothers, especially those living in informal settlements, is an investment in the future,Many young mothers face barriers such as poverty, stigma, limited access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, making it difficult to break the cycle of vulnerability. By providing them with education, mentorship, healthcare, childcare support, and pathways to economic independence, we empower them to build stable lives for themselves and their children. Every teenage mother deserves compassion, dignity, and a genuine opportunity to thrive, regardless of her circumstances.

Was joined with LSK president Faith Odhiambo in Kibera where we meet with the community: Supporting teenage mothers is both a social responsibility and an investment in the future of our communities. Many young mothers face significant emotional, social, and economic challenges and deserve access to education, mentorship, healthcare, and opportunities that empower them to build better lives for themselves and their children. At the same time, we must address the root causes of teenage pregnancy by understanding the circumstances behind each case. Where pregnancy results from exploitation, abuse, coercion, or any violation of the law, justice must be pursued and the rule of law applied firmly to protect young people, prevent future cases, and help reduce the growing challenge of single-parent households.

I extend my sincere appreciation to CFK Africa for its continued commitment to empowering teenage mothers and championing the fight against gender-based violence in Kibra and other informal settlements. Through education, advocacy, support services, and community engagement, CFK is helping restore dignity, create opportunities, and build safer communities. Their work reminds us that meaningful change requires compassion, accountability, and collective action to ensure that every young person has the chance to thrive.

Women & Girls continue to face barriers in accessing safe, affordable, and dignified menstrual health products and education. We call upon governments, development partners, philanthropists, corporations, and individuals across the globe to increase investment in menstrual health initiatives that ensure every girl can attend school with confidence and every woman can manage her menstrual health with dignity. The lack of access to menstrual products, clean water, sanitation facilities, and accurate information continues to contribute to school absenteeism, health risks, stigma, and lost opportunities for millions. No girl should be forced to miss her education, and no woman should be denied her dignity because of her period. Together, we can break the silence, end period poverty, and create a future where menstrual health is recognized as an essential component of gender equality, education, public health, and human development. The time to act is now. Menstrual dignity for all is not only achievable, it is necessary.
