Wrapping Up SisTech Shortlisting Interviews in Kibera

Today marked the final day of SisTech shortlisting interviews in Kibera, and we are inspired by the incredible enthusiasm, determination, and ambition demonstrated by the young women who turned up for the process.

The overwhelming response highlights the growing demand for digital and technology skills among young women in underserved communities. We met aspiring innovators, entrepreneurs, and future tech professionals who are eager to seize opportunities and build brighter futures through technology.

As we conclude this phase, we are excited to welcome the selected participants into the SisTech Program, where they will gain market-ready digital skills, career guidance, mentorship, and pathways to meaningful employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Thank you to every young woman who applied and shared her aspirations with us. The future of technology is brighter when more women are empowered to participate, lead, and innovate.

Our ongoing shortlisting process has been a powerful reminder of the growing demand for digital and technology skills among young women in underserved communities. We have met ambitious, enthusiastic young women who are eager to begin their journey into the world of technology and unlock new opportunities for their futures.

Through the SisTech Program, participants will gain market-ready digital and technology skills that prepare them to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving digital economy.

We are excited to welcome our first cohorts in Mathare, Mukuru, and Kibera, and we look forward to seeing the creativity, innovation, and leadership these young women will bring to the future of tech.

The Sisters in Tech are here!

We are excited to kick off the SisTech Program in Mukuru, Kibera, and Mathare. Over the past weeks our team has been engaging closely with applicants through a highly competitive shortlisting process that attracted more than 1,000 young women eager to begin their journey into technology.

The SisTech Program is designed to equip young women with market-ready digital literacy and technology skills that prepare them to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving digital economy. Participants will gain enhanced employability and job-readiness skills, access to career guidance and mentorship, and opportunities matching for employment, freelancing, and remote work. The program also nurtures entrepreneurship and business development capabilities, empowering young women to create sustainable livelihoods and drive change within their communities.

Through a supportive, women-centered learning environment, participants will build confidence, expand their professional networks through connections with peers and industry professionals, and unlock pathways to high-impact careers in technology. Upon successful completion, graduates will join the NairoBits alumni network, gaining access to a lifelong community of learning, collaboration, and professional growth.

We cannot wait to welcome our first cohorts and witness the innovation, resilience, and leadership these young women will bring to the future of tech. 💜✨

Structured mentorship is the bridge between training and a sustainable career.

Through our Labour Market Integration department, we work to ensure program participants land dignified, fulfilling jobs and more importantly, that they stay, grow, and thrive.

Last week, we were honored to attend the Generation Kenya Mentorship Impact Study Dissemination Workshop, where the evidence spoke clearly: mentees who received structured mentorship adapted faster, performed better, and built stronger professional networks. A powerful reminder that wraparound support systems are non-negotiable in youth workforce development.

We also had the privilege of connecting with employment partners across sectors, deepening our shared commitment to building careers, not just filling vacancies.

Because mentorship doesn't just build skills. It builds confidence, clarity, and community.
