LEK Community Organization

LEK Community Organization LEC Community Organization is a Community Based Organization focused at improving the living conditions of slum dwellers especially children youths and women

About Linda Elimisha K**e (LEK)
Linda Elimisha K**e (LEK) is a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) committed to improving the living conditions of vulnerable communities, with a special focus on children, youth, and women in the Mathare slums of Nairobi, Kenya. Founded in 2013 as Legacy Education Centre (LEC), LEK was established in response to the pressing need for accessible education

among slum-dwelling children. While education is a fundamental human right, for many children in informal settlements, it remains an unattainable dream due to entrenched poverty. To address this gap, LEK initially provided learning support directly to children within their homes. However, due to increasing dropout rates, an education centre was established where children not only receive quality education but also benefit from a daily feeding program that ensures they stay nourished and focused in class. In addition to education, LEK offers a wide range of community empowerment programs:

Youth empowerment through training and awareness campaigns on the dangers of drug abuse, crime, harmful cultural practices, and early marriages. Women empowerment through sensitization on family planning, parenting, and access to basic amenities, enabling them to provide better quality of life for their families. These initiatives have been made possible through the generous support of well-wishers, sponsors, and partners who share our vision. Our Vision
A nation where children, youth, and women are empowered through access to quality education and life-changing opportunities. Our Mission
To work in partnership with others to:

Provide inclusive, quality education to children and youth. Empower women to actively participate in societal development. Protect children from all forms of abuse and ensure their rights are upheld. Governance
LEK is governed by a dedicated Board of Directors that provides oversight, strategic direction, and accountability in all our programs and operations. Key Achievements

Supported numerous children through secondary school, with several advancing to university. Established a learning centre offering free education and meals to young children. Implemented a sustainable feeding program to enhance concentration and classroom participation. Conducted multiple women’s empowerment workshops on family planning and community health. Support Our Work
With your support, we can continue transforming lives and offering hope to children who would otherwise face the harsh realities of child labor, early marriage, or criminal activity. Together, we can break the cycle of poverty and create lasting impact.

It is deeply fulfilling to witness vulnerable women transform their challenges into strength and independence.

As we celebrate Elena Einstein Tailoring Cohort 2, we reflect on a journey of empowerment, resilience, and restored dignity. Through the support of Einstein Grace Foundation, these women were not only equipped with practical tailoring skills but also empowered with confidence, purpose, and renewed hope for the future.

This milestone is a testament to the power of community-driven empowerment and sustainable impact. Congratulations to Cohort 2 on this remarkable achievement. Your growth and determination continue to inspire us all.

📢Linda Elimisha K**e, in conjunction with the government and other like-minded organizations, joined hands in commemorating the International Missing Children's Day.

With the increasing number of reported cases, we strongly condemn all acts leading to children going missing and reaffirm our commitment to protecting children within our communities. Every child deserves safety, protection, and the opportunity to grow in a secure environment.

We call upon parents, guardians, institutions, and community members to remain vigilant, speak up, and work together in preventing child disappearance, trafficking, and exploitation.

Together, we can create safer communities and ensure that no child is left unprotected.

Today, I had the privilege of visiting Justice Nest for an introductory meeting and engaging in a meaningful conversation with their exceptional team. The discussions around the boardroom were insightful, productive, and opened the door to potential collaboration between LEK and Justice Nest.
Partnership remains one of our core values, and it was encouraging to see this commitment strongly reflected on both sides. As we continue these conversations, we are united by a shared vision of serving our communities with greater impact and purpose.
Looking forward to the possibilities ahead and to building meaningful partnerships that create lasting change.

We successfully conducted a safeguarding training on online safety at our school.

In today’s digital world, children face real risks of online exploitation, placing them at a higher risk of abuse. This training was an important step in equipping both learners and educators with the knowledge and awareness needed to stay safe.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Watoto Watch Network for facilitating such a vital and timely session especially for children living in informal settlements, where access to guidance and protection is even more crucial.

Together, we can create a safer environment for every child.

Our Director Leah, was privileged to represent Linda Elimisha K**e at a strategic platform reviewing the Counter-Trafficking in Persons Act, 2010. The forum brought together different stakeholders from government, the private sector, and civil society organizations. The rich dialogue and shared experiences underscored the power of coordinated action. Our commitment to zero tolerance for human trafficking remains unwavering as we continue to advance survivor-centred approaches. Thanks HAART Kenya for good coordination!

What began as a training session blossomed into a vibrant and engaging dialogue between facilitators from The Rain Workers and a remarkable group of survivors. Their resilience was evident in the powerful contributions they made to the topic of the day.
Reproductive health is a subject every woman and girl should be informed about. Knowledge is empowerment, and conversations like these create safe spaces for learning, sharing and growth.

A special thanks to MCFPNairo for the well conducted and impactful facilitation. Together, we continue to create meaningful change in our communities.

April marks Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. It is a time to stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence and to reaffirm our collective responsibility to create safer communities.

In Kenya, 1 in 5 women has experienced sexual violence, and 3 in 10 girls face sexual violence. These are not just statistics, they represent real people, real stories, and real pain that too often goes unheard.

Many survivors carry their stories in silence, bearing trauma that continues to affect their lives each day. Healing is not an even, it is a journey. A journey that begins with awareness, compassion, and collective accountability.

At Linda Elimisha K**e, the Survivors Movement is committed to creating safe, nurturing spaces that center and uplift the most vulnerable. What matters most is your voice as a survivo, your story, and your healing.

You are seen. You are heard. You matter.
