Simama CBO is a non-profit, grassroots organization that uses sports to impart social and economic skills as well as promote peace, education, development, inclusion, better governance and accountability among the youth of Kariobangi Slum, Nairobi. The CBO was founded in 2012 by young people born and raised in the slum, thus have hands-on understanding of the issues facing young people in Kariobangi and more so how best to provide local solutions for these local challenges.

⚽🕊️ ANNUAL PRE-SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP 2026
Simama Community Based Organization-CBO and UN Sustainable Development Platform is proud to bring you the Annual Pre-Season Championship Football Tournament, taking place on 4th October 2026 in Kariobangi North.

This year, we join the global call of the International Day of Peace 2026: “Investing in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.”
As the nation approaches the 2027 general elections, we want to spread the message of peace across Eastlands and beyond, while also creating awareness on Global Goals for Sustainable Development.

Through football, we are investing in our young people, strengthening friendships, bridging community divides, and creating safe spaces where everyone can participate, connect and thrive.

Our message is simple:

Mtaa Zetu, Mpira Moja, na Amani Mtaani!
One neighborhood. One football. Peace in our streets.

Let us come together to celebrate fair play, unity, peace, good governance, and sustainable communities. Because peace is not built only in meeting rooms, it is built every day, in our neighborhoods, on our playing fields, and through the choices we make together.

A football pitch can be a classroom too.

Through sport, young people learn to communicate, work as a team, make decisions, manage setbacks, and take responsibility skills that matter long after the final whistle.

At Simama, we use sport as an entry point to create spaces where young people can build confidence, strengthen relationships and develop life skills that support them both on and off the pitch.

Sometimes, it starts with something simple.
A place where they can show up, be themselves, meet others and feel like they are part of something.
Through sport, creativity, digital skills and everyday interactions, children at Simama Community Based Organization-CBO and Kibera Hope Academy are given opportunities to learn, try new things and discover what they can do.They learn to work with others.
