Seeking support isn't always easy. Many people face barriers such as stigma, cost, lack of information, distance, or fear of being judged. These challenges can make it difficult to reach out, even when help is needed.

The good news is that barriers to care can be overcome. Start by learning about available resources, reaching out to trusted people, exploring affordable support options, and reminding yourself that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Everyone deserves access to care, support, and the opportunity to heal. đź’™

In a month, we mark 10 years of carrying a vision that was, at the beginning, fragile and uncertain, the belief that healing matters, that people matter, and that no one should suffer in silence.

Ten years is not merely a measure of time. It is a sacrifice. It is persistence through difficulty. It is choosing, again and again, to confront suffering with compassion instead of turning away from it. What has sustained this journey are the people, the communities that chose conversation over silence, hope over despair, and courage over fear.

And perhaps that is what meaningful impact truly is: the decision to continue showing up for one another, even when the path is difficult. As we look toward the next decade and our vision of reaching 10 million young people by 2035, we do so with gratitude for everyone who has carried this mission with us.

This is only the beginning.

Seeking professional support doesn’t mean things have gotten too bad. Sometimes, it simply means you’re tired of carrying everything alone.

If stress, anxiety, sadness, burnout, or overwhelming emotions are affecting your daily life, relationships, sleep, work, or sense of self, it may be time to reach out for support.

You deserve care, clarity, and a safe space to heal.

When everything feels like too much, return to your breath and your senses. This simple grounding exercise takes less than 3 minutes.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can say to someone going through a hard time is: “I’m here for you. You don’t have to go through this alone.” 🤍

A simple conversation can offer hope, comfort, and connection. During Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s remind the people we love that asking for help is strength, not weakness.

In Kenya, mental health challenges continue to affect millions, yet many still suffer in silence. Your words, presence, and compassion could be life-changing. Conversations save lives.

Community, responsibility, and mental wellness are deeply connected. When people are denied dignity, safety, or the ability to make informed choices about their lives, the consequences are not only social, they are psychological.

For Mental Health Awareness Month, yesterday we joined the Slum Peace and Empowerment Center (SPEC) and the Kibera community for an intergenerational dialogue on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). The conversation explored an important truth: mental health shapes how people navigate relationships, identity, trauma, decision-making, and reproductive experiences.

Real change begins in communities willing to have honest conversations. We are grateful to Mirror of Hope C.B.O Hope CBO for standing with us in this dialogue and continuing the work of creating spaces where healing, support, and growth are possible.

We also want to remind the community that affordable and accessible mental healthcare exists right within Kibera. Professional counseling services are available at our Community Wellness Centres located at Mirror of Hope CBO (Kibera Drive) and The Point Trust (Mashimoni Ward). If you or someone you know needs a safe and confidential space to talk, heal, and rebuild, please visit us or share this information with someone who may need it.

A stronger community is built when people choose to look out for one another.

Creating more good days starts with something simple, yet powerful: showing up for one another and choosing to take intentional action toward support and connection.

In a world where many people are quietly navigating stress, uncertainty, and emotional strain, safe spaces for honest conversation are more important than ever. This month, we are intentionally creating that space, one rooted in connection, openness, and shared understanding.

We invite you to join us for an open conversation on 25th May at 7:00 PM (EAT), live on Instagram, https://www.instagram.com/mental360kenya_1?igsh=czg1cW00a3BpYWtz&utm_source=qr as we explore what it means to build better days together and how small, consistent actions can contribute to stronger emotional wellbeing within our communities.

We look forward to engaging, reflecting, and growing together.

Stress is a normal part of life, but how we respond to it makes all the difference.

Sometimes we reach for habits that bring quick relief but leave us feeling worse later. Other times, we choose small actions that help us slow down, regulate, and reset.

The goal is not perfection, but awareness, learning what truly helps you cope in healthier ways.

Unhealthy coping may numb the feeling for a while, but it often adds more strain over time. Healthy coping helps the mind and body process what we’re going through instead of avoiding it.

Both are common, but not all coping strategies support your well-being in the long run.

Which ones do you find yourself reaching for most often?

When we don’t talk about mental health, people don’t stop struggling. They start struggling alone. And isolation quietly magnifies what could have been eased through understanding, language, and shared experience.

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we invite you to sit in on a necessary conversation.

Ask A Therapist: Creating More Good Days, Together on 25th May at 7:00 PM (EAT) and Live on Instagram

We will explore how community support reduces stigma and how practical, personal steps can strengthen emotional well-being in everyday life.

These conversations matter because they: give people language for what they are feeling, reduce stigma through familiarity, normalize seeking support, and build a sense of community.

Because better days are not accidental, they are built together.

Follow and save the date.

Supporting others can feel meaningful, but it can also quietly drain you when there are no boundaries in place.

You don’t have to choose between being caring and being well. Both can exist at the same time. Sustainable support starts with you being okay, too.

It’s okay to pause, set limits, and ask for help when you need it. That doesn’t make you less supportive; it simply makes it possible to keep showing up without losing yourself in the process.

Take care of yourself, too.
