Ending FGM begins with a personal commitment to stop it.

During the Safe Fields Initiative (SFI) consultative forum, Rachael a Medic sensitized participants on the harmful medical effects of FGM, bringing greater understanding to the consequences of a practice that continues to affect generations.

Pledge for Progress believes change begins with a decision — a personal commitment to say: I will not support it. I will not subject my daughter to it. I will speak against it.

When individuals make that commitment, we create a collective force capable of ending FGM.

It starts with one commitment.
It grows into collective action.
Together, we can end FGM. Hence our Name Pledge for Progress.

Today, Pledge for Progress convened a grassroots consultative forum for the Safe Fields Initiative (SFI) in Namelok, Kajiado County — a programme seeking to advance gender equality in the agricultural space.

Women pointed out a range of challenges in the agricultural space, including long working hours, low wages, sexual exploitation, limited workplace protections, and the challenges of working while caring for young children and babies, among others.

The forum also raised concern over the involvement of school-going children and minors in agricultural work, and its implications for education and child wellbeing, including school dropouts, teenage pregnancies and child labour.

SFI seeks to bring women and key stakeholders together to promote safer, more dignified and inclusive agricultural workplaces and contribute to relevant policy and practical solutions.

We appreciate the Kajiado County Gender Department, Sub-County Children Department, Digital Moran CBO, We4Kenya, other CSOs and women working in agriculture for joining the conversation.

Today Pledge for Progress was privileged to join fellow CSOs from Kenya and Tanzania at the same table, united by one goal: ending cross-border FGM and SGBV. 🇰🇪🤝🇹🇿

It was powerful to share strategy, learn from each other, and commit to action together.

Grateful to be part of this regional solidarity with Plan International, Amref Health Africa in Kenya, Girl Child Network Kenya, Entepesi Kenya and all partners. Together, we’re turning that vision into action, one community at a time. 🌍💛

Expanding Cross-Border Collaboration to end FGM.
We participated in the Naret Intoiye CBO Cross-Border Dialogue on FGM under the Future for Binti Project, the forum brought together stakeholders from Kenya and Tanzania.

Mr. Sam S. Nkitoria shared insights on the EAC FGM Bill & highlighted how Pledge for Progress Safe Fields Initiative is promoting women's and children rights in the agricultural sector.
Together we will continue to champion a future where every girl and woman lives free from violence and harmful practices.

The Twelfth Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD-12), held from April 28–30, 2026, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, focuses on accelerating implementation of the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063 with under five years left to meet the global goals. The overall objective of the twelfth session of the Forum is to conduct a regional follow-up and review of progress made, facilitate peer-to-peer learning and advance transformative and coordinated actions to speed up progress on the Sustainable Development Goals and Goals of Agenda 2063 with a focus on strategic objectives of its second Ten-year Implementation Plan. Pledge for progress has been keen on following up and translating SDGs at the local communities by combining individual and community efforts in realizing these goals.
