KCA has been a champion of Devolution since it was created under the Constitution of Kenya 2010. We are honoured to join Senior Editors' Forum on Devolution hosted by Katiba Institute in Naivasha. From the discussions at the forum, it's clear that the media sector needs a better understanding and more training on reporting Devolution. Reporting Devolution remains a challenge and much more needs to be done to help citizens and other stakeholders to understand and appreciate Devolution as an important governance framework. Preparing for the 2027 General Elections: We gathered over 50 stakeholders at a breakfast meeting to review the electoral environment, share information on the different initiatives going on in preparing for the next General Elections. We emphasized the need for regular dialogue sessions to share information and plan together, a collaborative approach, monitoring of the developments, safeguarding press freedom and ensuring the civic space does not close. We agreed to hold another forum in September and to carry on the conversations to a bigger space - the Media -CSO Conference in October 2026. There is plenty of work to be done in the next one year towards ensuring we have free,fair and credible elections and a stable country.

We feel honored to be part of this occasion. The media have an important role to play in the fight against corruption. We are happy to serve as part of the Steering Committee of the Kenya Leadership Integrity Forum (KLIF) which is an organ created as a stakeholder framework, hosted by the Ethic and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC). We have mainstreamed the fight against corruption in all our programs.

Step by step: empowering correspondents in Nakuru County on mitigating the impact of cyberbullying. Nakuru County has complex social, economic and political dynamics that pause challenges to journalists reporting on the ground. Our team of 20 correspondents currently undergoing training have made significant progress. We will continue to mentor them to have the skills and tools to navigate the digital ecosystem to ensure they are safe.

We are busy taking a team of journalists in Nakuru County through training sessions on how to mitigate against cyberbulling in the course of their work. Here during one of our practical sessions, the correspondents drawn from different media outlets, go through skills and tools for use in navigating the increasingly difficult digital ecosystem.

We are happy to join the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) at the launch of their "Empowering Journalists for Safety and Equity Project". This project will be an additional and welcome contribution to the media sector. The project is supported by IPDC, an organ of UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa, UNESCO. We have emphasized the need for a stronger partnership and collaboration by media sector players, including proactive engagement by media owners and managers. The issue of safety of journalists, especially ahead and during the 2027 General Elections, is critical.
