My name is Joyce Oketch, a team member and leader at Harambee Arts Kenya.
Today, the Harambee Arts Kenya family celebrates our Executive Director, Ms. Gloria Simoneaux.

Gloria, we’re celebrating more than your birthday — we’re celebrating your big heart and the impact you’ve made for over 18 years. You’ve shown us what safety, warmth, and love look like and together, we’ve witnessed lives transform.

With your unwavering kindness, you’ve been our pillar and a source of strength for our team and thousands in our communities. Thank you for leading with vision, courage, and grace. Your wisdom and strength drive the impact we make together, we’re deeply grateful for you.
Here’s to more impact, more laughter, and another year of doing good together!

Happy birthday, mrembo!
With much ❤️,
The Harambee Arts Kenya Family.

In honor of Women’s History Month, we celebrate the countless women who shape, sustain, and uplift their communities every single day.

The Harambee Arts model is rooted in the belief that everyone has something of value to contribute—including those navigating poverty, illness, disabilities, and other crises.

We see it in the quiet acts of care. In the fierce advocacy. In the way women come together to support one another—and especially the most vulnerable among them.

This month, we stand in solidarity with these courageous women—past and present—whose strength continues to change the world.

As Dr. Paul Farmer so powerfully said:

“The idea that some lives matter less is the root of all that is wrong with the world.”

May we continue building a world where every woman—and every life—is seen, valued, and honored.

Happy Women’s History Month!

This is a friendly reminder that the screening for our new Harambee Arts Nepal film, Speaking With Colors, is tomorrow, and we would be honored if you would join us.

This film follows Sashi, who was trafficked at just 9 years old and endured unimaginable trauma.

Through extraordinary resilience and courage, she escaped her exploiter and transformed her pain into purpose—becoming a powerful advocate against human trafficking and a trained Expressive Arts facilitator, using art and storytelling to help other women on their healing journey.

Speaking With Colors is a moving testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of community through art.

We hope to see you tomorrow!

At Harambee Arts, we have the profound honor of standing with children and women whose lives have been marked by trauma, exploitation, extreme poverty, and unimaginable hardship.

Every day, we witness the quiet miracles that unfold when someone feels safe for the very first time.

🎨 A child lifting a paintbrush and saying what words could not.
💛 A woman rediscovering strength she thought she lost.
✨ Laughter returning after years of silence.

This is the impact your generosity makes possible.

As we step into this season of gratitude and giving, our hearts turn once again to the people in our communities—the children and women who rely on these safe, creative spaces to heal and belong. And today, on Giving Tuesday, we’re inviting you to join us in this life-changing mission in a meaningful way.

Will you help us continue this life-changing work?

Tumeshukuru — we are grateful!

As we finish 2025 strong and step into a new year, we’re reflecting on the joy, healing, and hope we’ve witnessed across Kenya and Nepal. ✨

Because of you:

🎨 Children who once felt invisible are painting their stories in color
💛 Women who had lost their voices are gathering in circles of strength
🌍 Communities facing poverty, trauma, and instability are experiencing safety, connection, and creative expression

Your compassion reaches across continents, and the ripple effect is powerful.

As we celebrate the beautiful impact we’ve seen this year, we would like to invite you to read this month’s newsletter to read the full stories of the lives you’re impacting by partnering with Harambee Arts!

Your partnership continues to bring hope where it’s needed most.
