Last week(21st-22nd May), we joined different organizations at the Disability, The Bible and the Church Conference 2026 organized by Hope Mobility Kenya a, Chapel, CITAM Churches, and other partners. The conference was based on Luke 14:12-23, โ€œCalled to include all at the table.โ€

The discussions focused on restoring dignity, ensuring no one is left out, and understanding that accessibility in church goes beyond buildings and architectural design. There were important conversations on inclusion, belonging in church, disability mainstreaming, moving from charity to a rights-based approach, and ensuring disability issues are included in budgets and policies.

It was also emphasized that churches have a strong influence in society and should take the lead in speaking for inclusion and the marginalized. Agencies and organizations were encouraged to work closely with churches to make inclusion practical and meaningful.

This being the first church conference of its kind, it was truly impactful, and we are happy to see the church actively involved in disability inclusion conversations. We are glad to continue being part of these conversations.

It was a pleasure to host a courtesy call meeting with Dr. Rhonda Faragher, Director of the Down Syndrome Research Program at The University of Queensland, together with Monica Cortes the Executive Director of Asdown Colombia.

The discussions focused on inclusive education, legal capacity, advocacy, and research opportunities for adults with Down syndrome. The meeting also highlighted the importance of strengthening support and care systems that promote independence, self-determination, and meaningful inclusion.

We also shared the value of partnerships, resource sharing, accurate disability data, and empowering self-advocates and families to create more inclusive communities for persons with Down syndrome.

We are delighted to have participated in the 2026 webinar and the two-day National Disability Dialogue Conference (NDD2026), themed โ€œTransforming Policy into Practice: Co-creating an Inclusive and Prosperous Society by Reimagining Care Systems.โ€

The conference brought together by key Partners, including the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), CBM Kenya, United Nations Development Programme - UNDP, United Disabled Persons of Kenya -UDPK and many other key partners who contributed to making the event a success.

A powerful call was made to recognize caregiving as full-time work and to reimagine the care system by acknowledging all the essential services and support structures that make it function. Care is not just a single service , it is an entire system that requires collaboration, investment, and inclusion.
Day two of the National Disability Dialogue was marked by the launch of the baseline assessment report on the implementation of the PWD Act 2025 in public institutions, a report developed by the NCPWD.

Overall, the conference continues to provide an important platform for measuring progress in policy implementation, reflecting on key milestones achieved, and discussing the way forward in ensuring that no one is left behind.

Wishing you a day filled with love, appreciation, and joy.

Did you know people with Down syndrome could also have autism? Lets celebrate World Autism day 2nd April and educate ourselves on Autism.

Today we join the world in marking World Autism Awareness Day, a moment to move beyond awareness and into meaningful action.

Every child deserves to be seen, heard, and supported. By embracing early assessment, inclusive education, and community support, we create a world where individuals on the autism spectrum can thrive, not just exist.

Letโ€™s celebrate neurodiversity, champion inclusion, and commit to building spaces where every ability is valued.๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the session. It was insightful and definitely something we look forward to revisiting.

As a reminder, our children are growing up in a highly digital world, which can influence them both positively and negatively, something we should all remain mindful of.

Letโ€™s continue to take advantage of such important discussions.
