METEMBE VILLAGE,KERONGORORI SUB- LOCATION, BOKIMONGE WARD IN BOMACHOGE BORABU CONSTITUENCY, MAY 8, 2026.

Honoured to have joined St Francis Metembe Senior School fraternity for a thanksgiving ceremony, a profoundly uplifting occasion that not only provided an opportunity to thank God but also reaffirm the transformative power of education in shaping the trajectory of our society.

I was specifically impressed with the outstanding academic performance recorded last year with 115 students attaining direct entry to university.Their achievement stands as a beacon of hope and a compelling reminder that excellence flourishes when hard work is embraced.

Beyond celebrating academic success, we also took time to encourage continuing students to embrace healthy competition and remain steadfast in their aspirations.

In furtherance of our commitment to educational empowerment through Mchakato wa Usomi under the Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation, we identified and fully settled the annual school fee for Aaron Sagana who is a bright but needy student in the School, as a way of encouraging and promoting academic excellence and ensuring that financial constraint does not hinder his pursuit of education and future aspirations. It should never be forgotten that education remains to be the greatest equalizer in society.

GESONI VILLAGE, BOGEKA WARD, KITUTU CHACHE SOUTH CONSTITUENCY, 30TH. MARCH 2026 :

Today, we visited the home of Jane Araka who is a widow in Gesoni village, Bogeka Ward, Kitutu chache South Constituency. We visited to chiefly support her and other widows in the spirit of encouraging humanity. By sharing and extending our blessings to the Widows, Orphans and vulnerable families, we advance compassion and encourage togetherness as we foster development in our community.

We donated food supplies and other essentials like beddings and mattresses. We intend to continue touching the hearts of orphans and widows through the Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation supportive initiatives. As an orphan and daughter of a widow, I do relate and know the challenges widows go through because my father departed leaving us while young.

We are impressed by how warmly the widows welcomed us in Gesoni village. We intend to continue touching the vulnerable families through the Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation in various villages to support them in one way or the other.

We also intend to continue donating books and other learning materials to students from vulnerable families and Schools, in the broader objective of encouraging a reading culture, so that they can gain knowledge and support themselves in future.

Our team did share Palm Sunday blessings by visiting Mama Lilian Nyamusi and her set of triplets, a boy and two girls at Bogetenga Ward in South Mugirango Constituency.

The spirit of humanity demands that we generously share God's blessings and whatever little we have amongst ourselves as we promote love, peace and coexistence in our Community.

Our presence was not merely to give but to confirm we need each other if the world is to be a better place. In giving food supplies and other essential items like clothes, diapers and toiletries we are reminded that dignity is not a privilege preserved for a few but a right inherent to all.

Compassion then must transcend moments, it must become our daily posture. For lifting others up, we do more than meeting immediate needs, we rekindle hope, spark worth in their minds and quietly participate in the shaping of a more humane, equitable and just society that has regard for all.

Widowhood often significantly changes the social and economic standing of women in our community beyond altering the structure of families.

It is sad that even while fully aware of their plight, our communities today still exhibit an almost entrenched, seemingly omnipotent attitude that lacks empathy, communal support and deliberate efforts toward widow empowerment.

This unfortunate reality has over time deepened the marginalization of widows leaving many shouldering emotional pain, financial and social strains.

It is against this background that the Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation has remained steadfast in championing dignity, inclusion and restoration of hope among widows.

Through targeted support programs, economic empowerment initiatives, psychosocial encouragement and community sensitization,we continue to create safe spaces where widows are seen, heard and uplifted.

Today, the Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation was at Riagumo Mixed Secondary School in Moticho Ward, South Mugirango Constituency for the Mchakato wa Usomi Program.

Mchakato wa Usomi being a volunteer initiative is designed to increase students' access to books and inculcate a reading culture in them. The more the reading, the more impact it has on students since they can then have an improved focus, open their minds to greater opportunities beyond their environment, concentrate and have the stimulus to critical thinking.

At the School, we further identified one Benjamin Mariota Obondi a bright but needy form four Student and cleared his full year School fees as a way of keeping him in School without any distractions and motivating him to only concentrate on his Studies and keep improving his grades for better results. This support is more than financial aid, it's a promise that a dream will not be cut short by circumstances or be detailed poverty.

We are committed to touching and positively impacting needy Students and Schools especially those in rural and remote areas where learners could be disadvantaged due to poverty levels. Our cardinal objective is to level the playing ground so that students from less privileged families can equally thrive academically.

By encouraging learners to fall in love with reading and books, they become empowered, more informed, innovative, creative and responsible leaders of tomorrow.

Having concluded the festive season, students now embark on a new chapter as they resume for their studies in 2026. Dear students, you are now transitioning from rest, celebration and reflection to discipline, intensity, learning and purpose. We fully appreciate the effort it takes to return to the classroom and do unequivocally commend each of you for choosing the journey of education.

As you settle back do remember what took you there in the first place, that you repay the sacrifice made on your behalf by working hard and shaping the future you so desire. The power to succeed lies within you, believe in yourself and make every opportunity count.

The Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation through Mchakato wa Usomi program might make a surprise visit in your various institutions this year, We look forward to interacting with you and together advancing the reading culture in the broader objective of enhancing critical thinking. Through the Kuza Mama Mashinani initiative under the Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation; we were privileged to visit and spend time with Mama Maono Self Help Group, a committed team of women from Nyabigena Village, Bogetenga Ward in South Mugirango Constituency transforming their lives through poultry farming. Their project not only provides them with a supplementary source of income but also contributes to improved household nutrition and improved local food security within the community.

It is important to note however that their journey is not without challenges. The high cost of feeds, limited access to affordable vaccines and fluctuating prices for eggs and chicken and occasional losses owing to disease outbreak continue to place a heavy burden on their operations as a group. In spite of the said hurdles, their resilience, teamwork and determination has kept the group active. To support and motivate this wonderful and hardworking Women group, we boosted their project a little bit through our foundation.

We commend Mama Maono Self Help Group for channelling their energy towards agribusiness and women economic empowerment. After keenly listening and interacting with these phenomenal women, we affirm that there is need for continued support through training, providing affordable inputs and access to credit so that more women groups can get empowered.

Yesterday through the Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Comrades Connect, we had the privilege of interacting and connecting with a section of university students from Embu and Chuka Universities. It was encouraging to listen deeply to their diverse perspectives and exchange with them ideas on how we can forge stronger pathways for partnership towards comrades' success.

We explored practical and innovative ways to cooperate in advancing youth development. From nurturing talent and entrepreneurship to creativity, civic education and mentorship, the conversations were rich and thought provoking.

What stood out most was the unprecedented capacity of these comrades to think critically, act decisively and propose actionable solutions for real challenges facing our communities. The passion, clarity and ambition with which the young minds articulated their position reaffirmed my belief that our nation's future is secure.

We walked away inspired ,revitalized and extra committed than ever to supporting spaces where the voices of young people are heard, valued and transformed into meaningful action.Remember once a comrade, always a comrade. Even after leaving university, the spirit of comradeship does not die.

Together let us connect, collaborate and grow by leveraging our shared vision and collective strength to create pathways for success that are inclusive, sustainable and empowering.
