The deadline to submit your paper for the 10th Annual Actuarial Convention is fast approaching - submit by 𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱!

This year’s theme, “The Actuary as a Policy Architect: Driving Sustainable Governance and Financial Resilience,” shines a spotlight on the growing influence of actuaries in shaping sound public policy and fostering sustainable governance in today’s evolving financial landscape.

As architects of resilience, actuaries are stepping beyond traditional roles and now actively contribute to national planning, social protection strategies, and long-term financial stability across diverse sectors.

We are calling for technical papers, case studies, and thought leadership pieces that showcase actuarial insight in key areas such as:

- Africa’s debt management

- Healthcare financing

- Pension reforms

- Climate risk

- Inclusive insurance

- Data and technology in decision-making

This is your opportunity to highlight how actuarial work is driving public policy, risk-based regulation, financial system stability, and socio-economic resilience across Africa.

George Odera, TASK Vice President and Head of Actuarial & Product Innovation at Jubilee Health Insurance delivered a presentation on AI & Climate Change in the ongoing AFRIC 2 conference in Maasai Mara.

He emphasized the importance of sustainable development-ensuring the current generation can meet their needs without compromising on the needs of the future generation. AI in itself will not solve climate change, but how we use it will determine whether we make things better or worse.

“We do not inherit the world from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children”.

The International Actuarial Association (IAA) has officially launched the 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝗽 (𝗬𝗔𝗪𝗖) 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, a global competition that brings together the brightest actuarial minds. The competition kicked off on 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝘀𝘁, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, and the 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 is July 31st, 2025.

This year’s theme, "𝑇𝑟𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛, 𝐷𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑦, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐼𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛," invites young actuaries to explore the evolving role of actuaries in shaping the future—whether through technological advancements, sustainability, or new problem-solving approaches.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲:
- Born on or after November 14, 1991
- A member of an IAA Full or Associate Member association (TASK members are eligible!)
