Crisis Pregnancy Ministries Kenya (CPMK) is a ministry of Youth for Christ Kenya, established in 1989 to support individuals facing crisis pregnancies. Initially, CPMK focused on counseling, offering psychological, spiritual, emotional, and material support while promoting alternatives to abortion.
Recognizing the need for more than crisis counseling, CPMK opened a rehabilitation center in Riruta Satellite in December 2007. The center provided vocational training in tailoring, cookery, knitting, and crafts to girls who had dropped out of school due to pregnancy, empowering them to earn a living.
With the rise of the AIDS pandemic, CPMK introduced Worth the Wait in the early 2000s—a sexual abstinence program offering education on STDs, abortion, self-esteem, drug abuse, and crisis pregnancy. Initially conducted as one-time talks in schools and churches, it has expanded into a year-long school curriculum.
In May 2022, CPMK launched Kimbilio Shelter to provide a safe haven for teenage mothers, offering security, holistic care, discipleship, and parenting classes. The first girl was rescued on May 4, 2022. The shelter has rescued 56 girls, with 42 accepting Christ. Additionally, 42 babies have been born at the shelter.
