ACAKORO NGO combines quality education and football to support children in urban informal settlements in Kenya! Acakoro Football is a community based organization with following objectives:

At Acakoro, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, and dream — both on and off the football field.

Located in the heart of Korogocho, the academy uses football as a tool to keep children in school, build confidence, teach discipline, and create a sense of purpose. Here, young players are not only trained to become better athletes, but also supported to become responsible and hopeful young leaders in their communities.

For many of these children, we are more than an academy. It is a safe space, a family, and a place where they are seen, encouraged, and given the chance to believe in a brighter future.

On this dusty field in Korogocho, a little girl is chasing more than just a football. She is chasing a better future for herself. Every time she touches the ball, she is learning confidence, discipline, teamwork, and believing that her dreams are possible no matter where she comes from.

For many children growing up in places like this, life is not always easy. Some face poverty, violence, lack of school support, and many struggles at a very young age. But football gives them a safe place to be children again. A place to smile, grow, make friends, and stay away from negative things in the community.

This is why support for programs like ACAKORO is important. They are helping boys and girls discover their talents while also teaching them life values and giving them hope. Behind every jersey is a child with dreams, and sometimes all they need is one opportunity and people who believe in them.

In the middle of Korogocho, where many children grow up surrounded by poverty, violence, and hopelessness, ACAKORO Football Academy is changing lives through football, education, and care. The academy does more than train young players — it keeps children in school, provides meals, mentorship, medical support, and teaches values like discipline, teamwork, courage, and self-belief. Since 2013, many boys and girls have found a new direction through the program, proving that talent can grow even in the toughest places.
In the narrow streets of Korogocho, football is becoming more than just a game. Young boys and girls are finding hope, education, friendship, and a reason to dream beyond the struggles around them. Every training session is also a lesson about discipline, respect, and believing in a better future.

For many of these children, the academy is not only a football pitch — it is a safe place where someone believes in them. A place where talent is nurtured, school fees are supported, meals are shared, and futures are slowly rebuilt one child at a time. It was a beautiful and joyful afternoon at Acakoro Football Academy as we welcomed members of the Austrian business community together with their families for a friendly and memorable visit. The day was filled with laughter, conversations, new friendships, and of course football — the one language that always brings people together no matter where they come from.

What made the day special was seeing children, parents, guests, and players all sharing the same space with smiles on their faces. On the pitch, it did not matter who was older, younger, local, or visiting for the first time. Everyone joined in, passed the ball around, cheered each other on, and enjoyed the simple happiness that football creates.

For our young players, moments like these mean a lot. They get the chance to interact with people from different parts of the world, build confidence, and feel that their dreams and talents are being seen and appreciated. And for the visitors, it was also a chance to experience the spirit of our community — full of energy, resilience, warmth, and hope.

It was a quiet but powerful visit in Korogocho as we stepped into the matope house of one of the children we support at Acakoro Football Academy. The space was small, the walls carrying the weight of everyday life, and for a moment everything slowed down. There were no big speeches, just presence — standing together, listening, and truly seeing the environment many of our players return to after training.

Then came a simple but unforgettable moment. The boy gently picked up his ball and showed it to us. It was worn out, clearly used over and over again, but you could see how much it meant to him. He held it with pride. That moment said more than words ever could. Because this is the reality for many of our children — passion that continues even when resources are limited.

And this is where the heart of Acakoro lies. The support we offer is not just about football sessions on the pitch. It is about giving these children access to proper equipment, education, mentorship, and a safe space where they can grow, feel seen, and believe in something bigger than their current situation. It is about standing in that gap and walking the journey with them.

What stayed with us most was the joy. The boy and his mother were genuinely happy, even surprised by the visit. There was laughter, warmth, and a deep sense of connection. Moments like these remind us why we keep going — because even the small support we are able to give matters, and there are many more children out there whose stories are still waiting to be reached.
