ACAKORO NGO combines quality education and football to support children in urban informal settlements in Kenya! Acakoro Football is a community based organization with following objectives:

- Imparting social values through football
- Developing pro footballers
- Getting children back to school and out of slums

A safe field where children can play without fear. Coaches who take time to teach, encourage, and guide. Young players learning discipline, teamwork, and confidence with every training session.

At Acakoro, football is used to do something bigger. It keeps children engaged, supports their education, and gives them a place where they can grow, feel valued, and believe that their future can be different.

Every cone on the field, every football, every training bib, and every hour spent with these children is made possible by people who choose to invest in their potential.

Growing up in Korogocho and Kariobangi is not always easy, especially for a young girl.

Many girls face challenges at an early age. Poverty, insecurity, drug and substance abuse, teenage pregnancy, gender-based violence, and dropping out of school are realities that many families in our community deal with every day. These challenges can easily take away a girl's confidence and limit the opportunities she has.

That is why our U8 girls' programme is so important.

At ACAKORO Football Academy, these girls have a place where they can run, laugh, make friends, and simply enjoy being children. On the pitch, they learn discipline, teamwork, and confidence. They begin to believe in themselves and discover that they are capable of much more than they ever imagined.

We may not know where football will take every girl, but we know that every afternoon spent on this pitch is time spent in a safe place, surrounded by coaches and teammates who believe in her.

For us, every girl who comes to training is already a winner because she has chosen hope, friendship, and a chance to dream.

Every time these children step onto the pitch, they are playing for something bigger than today's training.
Some dream of wearing the Kenyan jersey. Some dream of playing in Europe. Others simply dream of giving their families a better life through football.

That is why every training session matters. It is where they learn to believe in themselves, work as a team, and keep going even when they are tired. The journey is not easy, but they show up, give their best, and dare to dream.

At ACAKORO Football Academy, we don't know which child will become the next professional footballer. But we do know that every dream deserves a chance. So we keep training, keep believing, and keep giving these young players a place where their dreams can grow.

One day, one of these children will look back at this pitch and remember where it all began.

At ACAKORO Football Academy, we make sure that the children in our academy receive a meal because we know that good nutrition is just as important as good coaching. Before they step onto the pitch or head to class, they need the energy to keep going.

For many families in our community, providing enough food every day is not always easy. A meal at the academy gives our players the strength to train, concentrate in school, and enjoy being children. It also gives parents peace of mind, knowing that their children are cared for while they are with us.

Every meal we serve is part of our commitment to the children who come through our gates each day. We are not only helping them become better footballers—we are helping them grow into healthy, confident young people who can look forward to the future.

Sometimes, the simplest things make the biggest difference. For one child, one meal can change the whole day.

Our board members visited Marura Primary School in Kariobangi, where they spent time with some of the children who are part of ACAKORO's school support programme. It was an opportunity to see firsthand how education remains at the heart of what we do.

For many of our children, football and education go hand in hand. While the game teaches discipline, teamwork, and resilience, the classroom equips them with knowledge and opportunities for the future. We believe every child deserves both.

Meeting the pupils, interacting with teachers, and witnessing the progress being made brought to life the reason this programme exists. Behind every child is a story, a family, and a dream worth investing in.

At ACAKORO, our commitment has never been limited to developing footballers. We are committed to raising confident, educated, and responsible young people who can shape their own future.

For Jafeth Tsalwa Mzungu, it began on the pitches of ACAKORO Football Academy, where a young boy with a dream found a place to learn, grow, and believe in his ability.

Today, we are proud to announce that Jafeth has officially joined Police FC Rwanda, marking another important chapter in a journey built on hard work, discipline, and patience.
Over the years, Jafeth has continued to take each step with determination—from ACAKORO Football Academy to Rainbow FC, then Shabana FC, followed by Sofapaka FC. Each club became part of his story, helping him grow as both a footballer and a person. Now, that journey takes him beyond Kenya as he begins a new chapter in Rwanda.
Moments like these remind us why ACAKORO exists. Every child who walks through our gates carries a dream. Some dreams take years to unfold, but with commitment, guidance, and opportunity, they become possible.

Jafeth's success belongs to everyone who has been part of his journey—his family, teammates, coaches, supporters, and every person who believed in him when he was still a young boy playing football in Korogocho.

Our board members visited the Dandora dumpsite—not as tourists, but to better understand the environment that surrounds many of the children and families connected to ACAKORO Football Academy.

Standing at one of Africa's largest landfill sites is a reminder of the complex realities that many communities live with every day. Beyond the waste are homes, schools, businesses, and people working hard to provide for their families. It is a place where hardship and resilience exist side by side.

For us, this visit was about seeing the context in which many of our young players are growing up. Understanding these realities helps us make better decisions, ask better questions, and remain grounded in the purpose of our work.

Every child deserves the chance to dream beyond the circumstances they were born into. Football alone cannot solve every challenge, but it can open doors, build confidence, create friendships, and remind young people that their future is not defined by where they come from.

Some partnerships are built on paperwork. Others are built on people.

For many years, Stefan Köglberger and Lukas Mott have walked this journey with ACAKORO—not from a distance, but by taking time to understand the realities, challenges, and dreams of the children and families who call Korogocho and Kariobangi home.

This week was another reminder of what ACAKORO stands for. Conversations around football were accompanied by conversations about education, opportunity, responsibility, and the future of the young people in our community. Their guidance continues to help shape decisions both on and off the pitch.

The name ACAKORO means Austrian Children And KOrogocho. It reflects a friendship that has grown between two communities separated by thousands of kilometres but connected by a common belief: that every child deserves a chance to dream and the support to pursue those dreams.

As they walked through our streets, met our players, spoke with coaches, and listened to the stories behind the academy, they were reminded that ACAKORO has always been about people first. Football simply brought us together.

To understand our players, you must first understand their journey.

Members of our board walked through the streets of Korogocho, experiencing firsthand the environment that shapes the lives, dreams, and ambitions of the young people we serve. They saw the challenges, but more importantly, they saw the strength, creativity, resilience, and sense of community that make this place home.

Every narrow street tells a story. Every child playing football carries a dream. Every family represents hope for a better tomorrow.

This visit was a reminder that our work is not only about developing footballers—it is about creating opportunities, building confidence, and investing in the future of a community rich in potential.
