The rung breaks before the boardroom even comes into view. 🪜

New data from McKinsey & LeanIn.Org's Women in the Workplace 2025 report (11th year of the study) shows the real starting point of the gap: for every 100 men promoted into their first manager role, only 93 women get the same shot, and for women of colour, that drops to just 74.

The pattern doesn't stop there. Women still hold only 29% of C-suite roles, unchanged for two years running. And the access gap starts even earlier: only 31% of entry-level women have a sponsor, compared to 45% of men, despite sponsored employees being nearly twice as likely to get promoted.

This is exactly the gap the Global Women on Boards (GWOB) Programme was built to close: mentorship, sponsorship, and the boardroom judgement women are too often structurally denied elsewhere.

The next generation of women directors starts here.

New data from the WEF's June 2026 report shows women now hold 29.3% of board seats globally, nearly double a decade ago. But look closer: momentum on new appointments is slipping, and only 1 in 10 executive board roles are held by women. Presence isn't the same as power.

That's exactly the gap the Global Women on Boards (GWOB) Programme was built to close, 80+ senior women leaders across Asia, Europe, and Africa equipped with real governance skills and mentorship.
