Education should never be a privilege, it should be a right. Yet in Chakama, many bright and hardworking students are being forced to stay out of school, not because they lack the will to learn, but because poverty has placed education beyond their reach.

Many families here live far below the poverty line. Parents struggle daily just to put food on the table. Buying school uniforms, textbooks, exercise books or paying basic school fees is simply impossible for them.

Some students walk to school wearing torn uniforms, others share books and many drop out completely because their families cannot afford the cost of education.
As CHEPs, we believe that every child deserves a chance to learn, dream and build a better future but we cannot do this alone.

We are urgently seeking financial support to fund students’ school fees, uniforms, books and other essential learning materials for vulnerable children in Chakama. Your support will ensure that these students can remain in school, learn with dignity and focus on their studies without the constant worry of being sent home for lack of fees.

A small contribution can make a huge difference:
β€’ It can keep a child in school for an entire term or year
β€’ It can provide books and uniforms to a student who has none
β€’ It can restore hope to a family that has almost given up

At the start of this year, CHEPs proudly distributed food supplies to 27 schools in Chakama, supporting learners with meals that are essential for their health, growth and learning.

Through the generous donation by Pankaj, we delivered 9,000 kgs of maize, 4,500 kgs of wheat and 6,600 kgs of beans. These food items are vital in ensuring that students receive nutritious meals at school.

Meals that give them the energy to concentrate in class, attend school consistently and perform better academically.

For many learners in Chakama, school meals are more than just food, they are a lifeline. Proper nutrition improves focus, boosts immunity and creates an enabling environment for learning.

By strengthening school feeding programs, we are helping reduce hunger-related absenteeism and supporting families within the Chakama community.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Pankaj for this impactful and timely support. Your generosity has made a real difference in the lives of students and has reinforced the importance of partnerships in advancing education and child welfare.

At CHEPs, we remain committed to working with schools and partners to ensure that every child has access to safe, nutritious and consistent meals at school.

Last Friday was another meaningful day for our team as we shared hot meals with the residents of Kwamwagandi and Kwachuye in Chakama. The majority were children, whose energy, smiles and eagerness motivates us to continue striving for those who need us the most.
We also spent time speaking with their parents, many of whom expressed deep gratitude for the support. Their words of appreciation were a powerful reminder of the challenges families in the area continue to face, especially when it comes to access to consistent and nutritious meals. Knowing that our small gesture brings relief, even for a day, strengthens our commitment to keep assisting them.
This was our second week of the Hot Meals project. It is helping to cushion ongoing food challenges in the area and slowly building a stronger bond between us and the community. The trust, the conversations, the shared laughter and even the quiet moments all these are shaping a relationship rooted in care and togetherness.
Thank you Beta Charitable Trust for supporting the rural communities of Kenya in their hour of need!

During the visit, we engaged the learners in an interactive talk on the importance of proper handwashing and hygiene practices in preventing diseases and promoting good health.

To support this initiative, we distributed handwashing and clean water buckets together with soaps, ensuring that the students have the necessary tools to maintain regular hand hygiene.

Today, CHEPs provided solar study lamps to students at Chakama Secondary School.

The beneficiaries conveyed their deep gratitude and pledged to dedicate themselves fully to their studies as they prepare for the upcoming KCSE examinations.

This intervention comes at a crucial moment, just three weeks before the KCSE examinations, ensuring that students can study effectively in the evenings despite the lack of electricity in their homes.

Access to consistent lighting not only enhances study time and academic performance but also promotes safety and equal learning opportunities for all.

Through such initiatives, CHEPs continues to advance its commitment to improving learning conditions and empowering young people to realize their full potential.

In commemoration of Mazingira Day, 10 October 2025, CHEPs planted 700 Neem ( Marobaini) tree seedlings in five schools across Chakama, Kilifi County, as part of our ongoing commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.

The initiative seeks to promote environmental awareness and inspire learners to take an active role in becoming environment ambassadors, protecting and restoring our natural environment. Through small, consistent actions like tree planting, we move closer to a greener and healthier Chakama.

Educate and the blessings for this is for as long as that education is used to earn a living, that education is shared with others and that education is transferred. This is a pass to a flowing river of blessings. Your 100 bob is more than you can ever fathom in the eyes of the guardian lord.

*INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS*

Today, we had the honor of celebrating the International Day of Older Persons in Chakama by appreciating and engaging with over 50 elders from our community.

The day began with a physiotherapy session after registration, focusing on the health and well-being of our older generation. Together, we also held discussions on the vital role older persons play in shaping and guiding society.

To mark the occasion, trees were planted at the Chief’s office, a lasting symbol of growth, wisdom and continuity. The day was beautifully crowned with storytelling and mentorship sessions, where elders shared their knowledge and experiences with teenage girls from the local school, passing on values to the next generation.

This celebration reminded us that older persons are the roots of our communities and their wisdom is a guiding light for the future.

We remain committed to ensuring they are valued, respected and celebrated.
