Celebrating 3 Years of Transforming Lives Through Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM)
At KESYDO, we believe that empowering young girls through Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) is key to unlocking their potential and breaking cycles of inequality. As we celebrate three years of partnership with Mission Renewal International (MRI), we are proud to reflect on the transformative journey of the "Let the Girls Learn" Project in Boochi Tendere Ward, Gucha Sub-County, Kisii County.
Since2022, this impactful initiative has:
1) Supported 1,000+ girls with a comprehensive annual package of sanitary towels, life skills, and peer education.
2) Provided MHM Training of Trainers (TOT) to 100 teachers, equipping them with the skills to mentor and support girls.
3) Reached 1,500 teenage girls with vital knowledge on menstrual hygiene and reproductive health.
4) Indirectly impacted over 5,000 families, fostering healthier communities and stronger support networks.
Through this program, school enrollment, attendance, and academic performance have significantly improved in 8 targeted schools, including; Bombaba, Getuki, Nyansakia II, Kebere, Machongo, Nyaburumbasi, Nyamonyo, and Maroba Mixed Day Secondary Schools.
Breaking Barriers, Building Futures
The reality for many girls is that menstruation often becomes a barrier to education. Without access to sanitary products and proper education, girls miss school, experience shame, and fall behind academically. By addressing this challenge head-on, KESYDO and MRI are ensuring that no girl is left behind.
Menstrual Hygiene Management isn't just about pads—it's about dignity, self-esteem, and opportunity. This project empowers girls with the confidence to pursue their dreams without fear or interruption.
A Ripple Effect of Change
Our collaborative efforts with the County Government of Kisii and local stakeholders have amplified the reach and sustainability of this project. Teachers have become champions of MHM, guiding students through mentorship, and creating safe environments where open conversations about menstruation flourish.
The impact extends beyond classrooms—shaping attitudes, breaking taboos, and transforming entire communities by challenging deeply rooted social norms.
Our Vision for the Future
By 2025, our goal is to:
Reach more than 3,000 girls with sanitary products and reproductive health education
Expand the training of teachers and parents, ensuring wider access to MHM knowledge.
Continue advocating for policy changes and greater investment in menstrual health resources.
As we mark this milestone, we recognize that every pad, every training session, and every empowered girl represents a step toward a more equitable and inclusive society.
, let’s continue to uplift and inspire the next generation of leaders, one girl at a time #
