Since 2022, our Strengthen Agency for Social Accountability (SASA) Programme has worked with civil society organisations and communities in and to strengthen participation, leadership, and accountability.

Over the four years, has supported stronger community engagement with duty bearers, expanded opportunities for women and young people to take up leadership roles, strengthened grassroots organisations, and used artivism and media to amplify community voices.

As SASA enters its next phase, the focus is on sustained influence, stronger institutional responsiveness, and locally owned accountability systems.

We appreciate the communities, partners, rights holders, artists and duty bearers who have shaped this journey.

"It's a waste of taxpayers' money kufunga belt ya 1 million kwa waist." Oyamo Richard narrates the state of civic space in Kenya. 👇

Kenya stands at a pivotal moment. The erosion of civic space threatens its democratic fabric, but youth-led innovation and civil society’s resilience provide hope.

As Felicity Mudis narrates, "Itabidi kila mtu amebeba tofali, kokoto, na mchanga, ilitujenge a future where haki zetu ziko upheld vile constitution inasema."
