To mark ๐–๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐ ๐Œ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ ๐‡๐ฒ๐ ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐ž ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ 2026, Branch engaged students across several schools in Kisii County, including St. Catherine Iranda Secondary School, Igorera PAG Mixed Senior School, Bogeche DOK Secondary School, and Kamuga Junior School.

We were honoured to be joined by ๐‡๐จ๐ง. ๐ƒ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐ข and ๐‡๐จ๐ง. ๐‹๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐š๐ง ๐†๐จ๐ซ, both ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐Œ๐‚๐€๐ฌ and ๐ซ๐ž๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐†๐ž๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ ๐ข๐ง ๐Š๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐ข ๐‚๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ฒ, whose participation and contribution of menstrual products demonstrated a shared commitment to advancing menstrual health and supporting girls to remain in school.

The sessions focused on understanding menstruation and puberty, proper menstrual hygiene practices, breaking myths and stigma, and access to menstrual products.

We were also encouraged to see male champions actively participating in the conversations, reinforcing that menstrual health is not a girls' issue alone, but a community responsibility.

Periods are not a secret. They are not a shame. They are a part of life.

To commemorate ๐–๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐ ๐Œ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ ๐‡๐ฒ๐ ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐ž ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ 2026, Branch joined fellow CSOs and the County Government during the 4th Annual Nyalenda Period Festival held at the Nyalenda Health & Wellness Centre. The annual event is hosted by Dreams Redefined Organization.โœจ

The engagement focused on ending stigma, promoting menstrual health awareness, and advancing menstrual health and sanitation for girls and women.

Last week, Branch facilitated nutrition and kitchen gardening sessions for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers at Miranga Sub-County Hospital.

The sessions focused on practical approaches to improving household nutrition and supporting maternal and child health through accessible kitchen gardens and healthy feeding practices. Better maternal nutrition helps mothers nourish themselves and support the healthy growth and development of their unborn and newborn babies.

Branch, in partnership with Kenya Female Advisory Organization - Kefeado , held a community dialogue in Yala to address the rising cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) against women and girls.

Community members, leaders, and advocates discussed the causes of GBV, gaps in response systems, and the need for stronger awareness, reporting, and survivor support services.

Participants also raised concern over increasing cases of child abuse in schools, calling for safer learning environments and stronger child protection measures.

The event also marked the launch of the ๐’๐ข๐š๐ฒ๐š ๐…๐ž๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ ๐…๐จ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฆ, a new platform bringing together feminist voices to champion womenโ€™s rights, gender equality, and community action against GBV.

Branch held an amazing Membership Day yesterday, bringing together members, partners, and generations of Y women for a day of learning, connection, and celebrating .

Through engaging sessions on nutrition, financial literacy, women and leadership, and mental health and self-care, members explored practical ways to grow personally and collectively.

And to top it all off, the potluck brought everyone together in true Y spirit.โœจ
