End Child Poverty

End Child Poverty We are a multi-faith, child centered, global initiative of Arigatou International. We mobilise faith

End Child Poverty is a multi-faith, child centered, global initiative that aims to mobilize faith inspired resources to end child poverty, by addressing both the spiritual root causes and structural causes of poverty. The Interfaith Initiative to End Child Poverty (End Child Poverty) was launched at the Global Network of Religions for Children’s Fourth Forum in 2012 with the aim to mobilize faith-

based resources to end child poverty by: emphasizing spiritual awakening to address the root causes of poverty (greed, ignorance, hatred and fear); challenge unequal distribution of resources, war and violence, poor governance and corruption and aims to utilize theological reflection, interfaith advocacy and grassroots action to overcome child poverty. We primarily work through Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) members and also establish partnerships with other faith-inspired groups, development organizations, civil society organizations, governments, United Nations agencies, media, educators, multilateral organizations and like minded individuals, towards a world free of child poverty.

After 10 days, 1,556 km, and countless moments of learning, connection, and impact our caravan with 5 young champions from the SDGs Academy for Children; from Nairobi to Addis Ababa came to a close yesterday. And our young champions are back home, safe and inspired.

What began as an audacious journey became something far greater. From engaging 140+ girls in Marsabit, Kenya to speaking and participating at the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD), children from the SDGs Academy for Children showed the world what meaningful participation truly looks like. They didn’t just travel—they advocated, led, and acted.

This is the power of investing in children and this is what happens when we trust their voices.

The caravan may be over but the journey toward a sustainable, just future for all children continues. And these young champions are leading the way.

Take a seat and listen to Portia, one of our young champions from the SDGs Academy for Children, is raising her voice at the 12th Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD) at the continental stage in Addis Ababa 🇪🇹.

She speaks not just for herself, but for children across communities calling for relevant frameworks to protect young people regarding their; inclusion, dignity, and action on the issues that shape their lives.

This is why we journeyed from Nairobi to Addis Ababa.
To ensure that children are not left out of the rooms where decisions are made.

From a 1,556 km journey to high-level policy spaces; our young champions from the SDGs Academy for Children by Arigatou International are showing what meaningful child participation truly looks like.

Yesterday at the 12th Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD) in Addis Ababa 🇪🇹, the children didn’t just attend sessions, they engaged, listened, and contributed to conversations shaping Africa’s future.

And they didn’t stop there.

Carrying forward their SDGs Rural Connect action, they also distributed Eco Bana biodegradable sanitary pads, continuing their commitment to dignity, health, and opportunity for girls. A true manifestation of learning, action and influence. From communities like Marsabit, Kenya to continental platforms like ARFSD in Ethiopia.

This caravan is more than a journey, it’s a bridge between grassroots realities and policy spaces, powered by children’s voices.

More than anything else, our caravan with 5 children from the SDGs Academy for Children by Arigatou International was ostensibly to meaningfully involve children in policy spaces and conversations. This time, at the 12th Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD) in Addis Ababa, 🇪🇹.

Our first solid stop on this 10-day caravan wasn’t for lunch or a stretch it was for impact.

In Marsabit, we connected with over 140 girls through an inspiring session dubbed the SDGs Rural Connect Hub. Led by our young champions from the SDGs Academy for Children, the session introduced the Sustainable Development Goals and explored how they relate to the girls’ everyday realities.

Our young champions from the SDGs Academy for Children by Arigatou International shared the challenges they see in their communities—and the solutions they are already building through their own projects.

We also piloted Eco-Pad ‘n’ Girls, an initiative linking girls in need of sanitary products with individuals willing to support, alongside partners producing biodegradable pads. A small step with the potential for lasting impact on dignity, health, and education.

From Marsabit to Addis Ababa, this journey continues to be about connection, learning, and action.

Stay with us as we cross into Ethiopia destination, Addis Ababa 🇪🇹🌍

Yesterday, we commenced an audacious 1,556 km journey from Nairobi to Addis Ababa—with 5 young champions from the SDGs Academy for Children by Arigatou International.

But this journey is about more than distance. It’s about the moments along the way; the conversations, the cultures, the learning, and the lived experiences that will shape these young advocates.

At its heart, this caravan leads to the 12th Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where these children will bring their voices into continental conversations on sustainable development.

Over the next 10 days, this journey will:

Imagine a world where every child thrives; free from poverty, empowered with knowledge, and growing up in peaceful, inclusive communities.

In our 2024/2025 Annual Report, we reflect on a year of turning this vision into action. From expanding the SDGs Academy for Children to new regions, to advancing peacebuilding through interfaith collaboration, our work reached over 5000 people directly across communities.

This progress was only possible because of the power of partnerships with children, youth, faith leaders, and communities working together to create lasting change.

Together, we can shape a sustainable, just, and peaceful future for every child. 💛
