Yesterday, I returned to my childhood home. A place where I was brought up. It is often said that East or West, home is best, and indeed, nothing compares to the feeling of being home. I distributed a small package to my neighbors, which my friends Winston, Winnie, and Bike had supported me with, and we engaged in a significant discussion regarding the future of our community, our neighborhood, and Kibra as a whole. These little moments serve as a reminder that genuine change starts with us, right in our own surroundings.

Today, as we celebrate Mashujaa Day, we pay tribute to the courageous men and women whose bravery, sacrifices, and vision have shaped our nation. This year’s observance is tinged with profound sadness as we remember one of Kenya’s most remarkable figures — Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga.

A genuine shujaa, Raila devoted his life to advocating for democracy, justice, and equality for everyone. His steadfast dedication to the principles of freedom and unity continues to motivate generations throughout our country.
