Our learners took the stage at the Music Festivals, and we could not be prouder!

Beyond the classroom, children discover confidence, teamwork, discipline, creativity, and the courage to express themselves. Extra-curricular activities like music and performance help learners grow into well-rounded individuals.

We are also proud to see them celebrate Kenya’s rich and diverse cultures through song, dance, rhythm, and healthy competition. This is identity, talent, and confidence in motion.

Our hearts are heavy following the tragic fire at Utumishi Girls Academy. We mourn with the families who lost their children, pray for the healing of those injured, and stand with the entire school community during this painful time.

As Beyond the Vision Initiative, this tragedy speaks deeply to us because we are also an education provider, and we continue to dream of building a boarding school where children are not only educated, but fully protected. School safety must never be treated as a formality. Dormitories must meet government safety standards, emergency systems must work, supervision must be intentional, and every child must be accounted for and cared for.

But safety is also emotional. Learners need safe spaces to express fear, anger, pressure, conflict, and pain before these emotions become crises. Through our Safer Schools Mental Health Program, we continue to support schools in building environments where children are listened to, guided, and helped to communicate emotions positively and resolve conflict safely.

May the children we lost rest in peace. May the injured heal. And may this tragedy remind all of us that a truly safe school protects the body, mind, and heart of every learner.

A recent report citing KNEC’s 2025 National Assessment Insights shows that over 151,000 pioneer CBE learners dropped out before Grade 10, with girls most affected. This is a reminder that access to school is not enough; children also need support to stay, learn, and transition successfully.

At Beyond the Vision Community School, we serve children from vulnerable households in Tassia and surrounding informal settlements by providing basic education, daily nutrition support, mentorship, safeguarding, psychosocial care, and a safe learning environment.

Our work is rooted in one belief: every child deserves more than a place in class. They deserve the support to remain in school, learn with dignity, and build a better future.

What started here at Beyond the Vision Community School as a simple response to the needs of our children has grown into something much bigger. We saw that learning is not just about books. Children need to feel safe, supported, and understood to truly thrive.

From these early beginnings, our Safer Schools Mental Health Program was born. Today, this model has expanded beyond our school to 20+ schools, reaching over 2,000 learners every week creating safe spaces for children across communities.

What were we upto during the school holidays? Ensuring that our programs don't stop with an end of a term. The kids love to read story books during the holiday period, alot of play and nutrition. All good for the development of a child.
