A recent report citing KNEC’s 2025 National Assessment Insights shows that over 151,000 pioneer CBE learners dropped out before Grade 10, with girls most affected. This is a reminder that access to school is not enough; children also need support to stay, learn, and transition successfully.

At Beyond the Vision Community School, we serve children from vulnerable households in Tassia and surrounding informal settlements by providing basic education, daily nutrition support, mentorship, safeguarding, psychosocial care, and a safe learning environment.

Our work is rooted in one belief: every child deserves more than a place in class. They deserve the support to remain in school, learn with dignity, and build a better future.

The dedication of our team at Beyond the Vision Community School cannot go unnoticed. We deeply appreciate our school staff for their commitment to providing quality education and for the important role they play in safeguarding every learner under their care.

Because of their dedication, our school continues to grow not only as a place of learning, but also as a safe space where children are protected, supported, and nurtured.

Thank you for helping us build a Safer School model demonstration and for making our school a place where every child can learn, belong, and thrive.

What started here at Beyond the Vision Community School as a simple response to the needs of our children has grown into something much bigger. We saw that learning is not just about books. Children need to feel safe, supported, and understood to truly thrive.

From these early beginnings, our Safer Schools Mental Health Program was born. Today, this model has expanded beyond our school to 20+ schools, reaching over 2,000 learners every week creating safe spaces for children across communities.

🎥 This video shares a glimpse of that journey and the impact it continues to make.

We are proud of where it started and even more hopeful about where it is going.

This pictures speaks into our impact. It's a proud moment for the BVI ecosystem. A participant.of our programs can now run them.. She has participated in almost all our programs, experienced the impact first hand and is now a volunteer as she awaits University admission.

Her passion comes from a place of deep understanding and appreciation. It's her way of saying 'Thank you for being part of my journey' and her wanting to be part of our journey of breaking cycles of generational poverty in communities.

For those that have directly impacted her life, Thank you. And for those that want to join us in this journey - You're welcome to the 'Change squad'. Visit our website www.beyondthevisioninitiative.org

What were we upto during the school holidays? Ensuring that our programs don't stop with an end of a term. The kids love to read story books during the holiday period, alot of play and nutrition. All good for the development of a child.

Schools in informal settlements cannot operate on a standard template.

The context demands more.

Many learners arrive carrying hunger, economic instability at home, overcrowded living conditions, and sometimes trauma. In such environments, education cannot be delivered as a stand-alone service.

Academic instruction must be integrated with nutritional support, structured mentorship, Spiritual support and mental wellness safeguards.

A child who is hungry struggles to concentrate.
A child navigating instability struggles to retain information.

This is why our Community School model is layered education supported by nutrition, mentorship, and psychosocial care.

Access matters.
But ecosystem support determines whether learning becomes transformation.

A school should be a place where a child feels safe enough to thrive..

We held our graduation today and gave the kids a little treat. The excitement, happy faces and little screams filled the school today.

Congratulations to all leaners that graduated. We are proud of our team of educators for ensuring that quality education is disseminated daily at the school.

This year’s International Day of Education recognizes the role of young people as agents of change in building inclusive, equitable, and quality education systems and this is a reality we witness every day.

At Beyond the Vision Community School, education is not something done to children, but something built with them. Our learners are active participants in their own growth, supported by teachers, mentors, and peers who believe in dignity, voice, and opportunity. Through access to quality learning, mentorship, psychosocial support, and safe spaces, young people are equipped not only to learn, but to contribute, lead, and shape their communities.

Inclusive and equitable education means meeting learners where they are, removing barriers to access, and nurturing potential beyond the classroom. As we mark this day, we reaffirm our commitment to education that empowers young people to co-create a more just, peaceful, and hopeful future.

January begins with open gates and steady purpose.

We welcome our learners back to school and step into a new term with commitment and care. Beyond the Vision Community School exists to provide more than education, it is a place of safety, routine, nourishment, mentorship, and dignity for every child entrusted to us.

As classrooms come back to life, we remain focused on what matters most: consistent learning, supportive teaching, and an environment where children can grow with confidence and hope.

We thank our teachers, parents, partners, and the community for standing with us as the journey continues, one child, one lesson, one day at a time.
