What happens when ni****ne products start finding their way into schools and reaching children at increasingly younger ages?

Yesterday, IILA joined members of the Kenya To***co and Ni****ne Tax Coalition (KTNTC) at a media briefing calling for the urgent passage of the To***co Control (Amendment) Bill, 2024.

As vapes and ni****ne pouches become more visible and appealing to young people, coalition members warned that delays in passing the Bill leave children and youth vulnerable to addiction and its lifelong consequences.

Protecting the next generation cannot wait. Parliament has an opportunity to strengthen safeguards and close regulatory gaps before more young people are exposed.

Indeed the heart of a human being is evil beyond all things. When young beautiful innocent looking girls conceive the idea of killing their schoolmates and friends, and destroying the entire school, then you realize how evil the human hear is. This are girls who have not been so much exposed. How did they accumulate that amount of bile, that hate, thirst to kill and destroy? To subject families and the nation to immense and rejoice as their victims cry and wail in pain. Closing doors do that the loss of lives is maximum. Are we really praying or mocking God? Can we confidently say that our prayers are being heard or we retreat and seek God? My heart is heavy.

Ni****ne addiction is not fashion. It is a trap targeting our children and youth through flavors, social media, and deceptive marketing.

As we build up to ***coDay2026 under the theme “Unmasking the Appeal: Countering Ni****ne and To***co Addiction,” let us stand together to protect the next generation from to***co and ni****ne addiction.

Unmask the deception. Reject addiction. Build a to***co-free Kenya.

Every scroll, share, and trend shapes what young people see as “normal.” Today, social media exposure is fueling the normalization of ni****ne use among youth ,making harmful products appear harmless, stylish, and acceptable.

We cannot stay silent while misleading content targets the next generation.

Challenge deceptive messaging. Speak up when you see ni****ne products being promoted online. Start conversations, report harmful content, and use your voice to protect young people from manipulation disguised as entertainment and lifestyle.

The digital space should empower youth not addict them.
