InformAction Kenya

InformAction Kenya Grass roots organization using film and community discussion to demand political& social accountability Focus: Human rights|Social Justice|Good governance

InformAction is a unique human rights organization that uses film and community discussions to get ordinary people to speak out and take action. We operate through mobile field teams – using a car, screen, projector and camera - to show films to thousands of ordinary people through-out Kenya every week. Experienced activists and facilitators lead community discussions on justice and governance, wh

ile video journalists film the discussions and record human rights abuses. Since 2010, InformAction (IFA) has empowered hundreds of thousands of Kenyans in rural and marginalized areas, profiling the demands for change through innovative media and action. It has focused on impunity, governance, and justice for victims of political violence. In an environment that has become increasingly difficult for civil society and free expression, we use our unique methodology to by-pass control, corruption and censorship. We reach out to all communities and classes with understanding and information. Make change with us at InformAction; Watch, Discuss and Act!

We join civil society organizations from Kenya's Coastal region in calling for an urgent, independent, and transparent investigation into public allegations that Members of Parliament received money to influence votes during the impeachment process. Upholding integrity, accountability, and the rule of law requires that these allegations be thoroughly investigated and that anyone found culpable be held accountable.

📢 Press Statement.

We strongly condemn the escalating intimidation, harassment, and attacks targeting Tisa Kenya and the broader civic space in Kenya.

We call on the State to guarantee the safety of civil society organisations and human rights defenders, and to ensure prompt, independent investigations into reported violations, including assaults, enforced disappearances, arbitrary arrests, torture, unlawful surveillance, and attacks against those demanding accountability.

When the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project reached communities in Isiolo County, Kenya, many residents expected progress. Instead, they faced challenges including displacement, compensation disputes, environmental impacts, insecurity, and limited opportunities to participate in decisions affecting their lives. Women and vulnerable groups were among the hardest hit, with many feeling their voices were unheard.

Through support from the Haki Ni Yetu grant, the Isiolo Human Rights Defenders (IHRD) CBO helped turn frustration into action. By creating platforms for dialogue, training communities on land rights and advocacy, and connecting residents with duty bearers, IHRD empowered people to speak up, demand accountability, and engage constructively in the development process. Today, communities are better informed, more confident in defending their rights, and actively shaping decisions that affect their future.
