FUNGUO'S WORKSHOP: MAKING OF CHARCOAL BRIQUETTES!
We're empowering women, one briquette at a time! By switching from Tree-burned charcoal to animal dropping and grass briquettes, we're not only protecting the environment but also promoting healthier cooking practices. Plus, it's a game-changer for our women who can now sell these eco-friendly briquettes and earn a steady income 💪

Thanks, , Mekenye for being part of this awesome initiative! " 😊

VIDEOS DEMONSTRATES THE PROCESS OF MAKING BRIQUETTES.
1. Gather dried animal droppings and grass.
2.Combine 2-3 parts animal droppings with 1 part dried grass. Mix well.
3.Gradually add water to and mixing to dough-like
4.Fill the mold with the mixture, pressing it down firmly.
5. Compressing mixture, Use a press or heavy object (for now using our hands)
6. Dry the briqutte
7. Carbonize (optional)
8. Dry the carbonized briquettes further to remove excess moisture
9.Ready to use.

FOR NOW, WE ARE DEMONSTRATING MANUALLY BUT IN FUTURE MACHINES ARE NEEDED TO MAKE OUR EFFORT EFFECTIVE.

BE PART OF THIS HOPEFUL JOURNEY.

The trip and community service visit was amazing with , Paul and Moses....without you all, this great service wouldn't have been possible.
Thanks . For such volunteer service of screening our people for free!
The visit to Funguo gardening projects, schools and the women projects was amazing.
We thank our women for your dedication in the training of making charcoal Briquettes, this was a new alternative source of making charcoal, to avoid cutting of trees and burning charcoal for cooking energy. Our efforts is to conserve environment and empower women economically!
We started making the Briquettes manual but in future we have a vision to make them in bulk for us to earn from the same, for this reason these women needs a Briquettes making machine to enable them reach their goal.
We were finally blessed at KAG church Imbirikani....our sermon led us to understanding that obedience to God is better than sacrifice while oru able Dr.gave a health sermon on how to prevent diseases especially cancer prevention!

"A historic day for the Maasai community!

Today, November 8th, 2025, marks a significant milestone in the fight for justice and recognition of the Maasai people's rights to their ancestral land. President Ruto, Governor Lenku, Ntutu, and Lelelit have taken a monumental step in correcting a historical injustice by returning the Amboseli Game Reserve to its rightful owners, the Maasai community.

This landmark decision is a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of recognizing and respecting indigenous rights. The Maasai people have fought tirelessly for their rights to their ancestral land, and this is a victory for all Kenyans who believe in justice, equality, and the preservation of cultural heritage.

Let this day be written in history as a shining example of what can be achieved when leaders listen to the voices of their people and stand up for what is right.

Asanteni sana, President Ruto, Governor Lenku, Ntutu, and Lelelit, for this incredible achievement!

16 Days of Activism Recap

On December 10th, Funguo marked the peak of the 16 Days of Activism as our founder, Felistus, delivered a powerful speech before the County First Lady and over 30 partner organizations on:

“A Local Reflection: GBV in Kajiado County and the Maasai Community”

Progress & Challenges
Kajiado County has made strides in combating GBV, especially in ending FGM and early marriages. However, challenges remain:
• Domestic violence often goes unreported due to fear and stigma.
• Economic & psychological violence limits women’s empowerment.
• Technology-facilitated GBV is on the rise with increased digital use.

How can we preserve cultural identity while eliminating harmful practices?

Key Actions for Change

✅ Community-Led Prevention
• Promote alternative rites of passage to replace FGM.
• Engage men and boys as allies in the fight against GBV.
• Empower elders and cultural leaders to drive change.

✅ Survivor Support
• Establish more safe spaces with medical and psychosocial care.
• Connect survivors to economic empowerment programs.

✅ Education & Awareness
• Teach respect & equality in schools.
• Use Maasai proverbs & storytelling to challenge harmful norms.

✅ Tech Solutions
• Train communities on safe internet use to combat digital violence.

✅ Stronger Partnerships
• Work with government, NGOs & faith-based organizations.
• Advocate for better laws & funding for GBV prevention.

A Call to Action

➡ Leaders: Ensure laws and policies protect women and girls.

➡ Parents & Guardians: Raise children who respect and value one another.

➡ Men & Boys: Stand with us

➡ Everyone: Speak out.

Funguo Kenya CBO Update

Thank you for your patience while we’ve been quiet on social media! We’ve been busy making a difference in our community, and we’re excited to share our progress.

Founder Updates
Indica Burnet has been away after becoming a first-time mom, but she’s now back and ready to share our work. A huge thank you to Felistus, who has been holding everything together—managing sponsorships, community outreach, and economic projects in Maasai land.

What We’ve Been Doing

✨ Sponsorship Program
Our partnership with Hark Angel Australia continues to support 19 children in school, and some girls have graduated from technical college through independent sponsorships. Special thanks to Jaala and Julie for their long-term support!

✨ Agriculture & Nutrition
With a grant from NLGF, we’ve launched a beekeeping project in South Kajiado County and started a crop farming initiative to provide fresh vegetables and teach sustainable farming.

✨ Collaboration with TICAH
We’ve distributed seeds, established school kitchen gardens, and trained teachers on nutrition and food as medicine.

✨ Advocacy Work
Felistus has been speaking at conferences across Kenya, advocating against gender-based violence and for Maasai women’s land rights.

What’s Next?
We need your support to bring clean water to Maasai communities and help cover school essentials for children in our sponsorship program. We’re also looking for more independent sponsors to support children’s education.

For more details, check out our website (link in bio), and stay tuned for more updates!

Thank you for being part of this journey with us! ❤️
