Investigations into reported phone-snatching incidents indicate that some suspects are allegedly using motorcycles acquired through financing arrangements, including Mogo, to facilitate their activities.
What is particularly concerning is the alleged use of financed motorcycles to target and terrorise innocent members of the public.
We are closely examining registration numbers, chassis numbers and other identifying details associated with motorcycles linked to reported incidents. The information being gathered is providing important investigative leads.

POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED RECEIVER OF STOLEN PHONES IN DAGORETTI AND RECOVER DEVICES

Police officers from Riruta Police Station in Dagoretti Sub-County, while conducting routine patrols on 9 September 2026, intercepted and arrested a suspect believed to be involved in receiving stolen mobile phones in the Kabiria area.

A search of the suspect led to the recovery of several mobile devices and accessories, including:

The buyer conducted an official search, paid KSh 2.4 million, and only realised he had been conned when the โ€œsellerโ€ disappeared.

Maitha was later arrested at Mtito Andei and is in custody awaiting court.
