There are over 200 slums in Nairobi, where the majority of Nairobi city dwellers are crammed in 5% of the total available land. Most of the land occupied by the slums is government or city council property and some privately owned. The slums are multi-ethnic and the 60/70% of its dwellers are under 30 years of age. Their socio-ecnmic reality is very poor and the slum dwellers are one of the most e

xploited and oppressed classes of people in Kenya. There is a lack of public services such as water, sanitation, electricity, schools, health centres, roads and garbage collection. The main challenges are: prostitution, unemployment, drug addction, alcoholism, r**e, criminality, illegal fi****ms, domestic violence and street children.
