Somali Lifeline Organization (SOLO), in collaboration with Together Local Humanitarian Partners (LHPs) in , participated in a two-day national workshop held in Mogadishu from 25–26 November 2025, aimed at advancing the country-level advocacy strategy action plan.

SOLO staff, as part of the LHPs network, actively contributed to the workshop discussions, including the review of existing partnership agreements, the unpacking of the Principles of Partnership (PoP), and the development of assessment tools designed to strengthen partnership evaluation processes.

The workshop provided an important platform to identify gaps in current agreements, reinforce equitable and transparent partnership practices, and outline a clear action plan to support partners in conducting comprehensive self-assessments.

This engagement reflects a continued commitment to strengthening locally led humanitarian action and enhancing the effectiveness and accountability of partnership frameworks in Somalia.

Today at the French Embassy in Nairobi, NGOs and UN partners from Kenya and Somalia came together to mark World Humanitarian Day 2025—honoring humanitarian workers and reflecting on urgent global and regional challenges.

This year’s theme, “Strengthening global solidarity and empowering local communities,” underscores the need for collective action. With 300M people in need worldwide and only 16% of requirements funded, discussions emphasized the severe impact of funding cuts, climate shocks, and access constraints on humanitarian response.

“The call is clear: scale up anticipatory action and advance localization by resourcing national and local humanitarian actors to lead effective and sustainable response,” said Kulmiye Hussein Abdi, Executive Director of SOLO.

We thank the French Embassy for convening and supporting this annual platform that strengthens solidarity and fosters strategic dialogue. Now is the time to turn words into action.

Advancing Localization and Child Rights: Save the Children & SOLO Deepen Collaboration in Dadaab, Kenya

SOLO had the privilege of hosting the Director of Program Operations, Director of Human Resources, and the Dadaab Area Manager from Save the Children (SCI) at our Dadaab field office.

This courtesy visit forms part of a broader mission by SCI’s Senior Management Team, who are in Dadaab this week to strengthen engagement with implementing partners and gain firsthand insights into the localization agenda and SCI’s strategic priorities within the Dadaab refugee response.

The visit included meaningful discussions on the progress of the REAP Project, key achievements, and the challenges encountered in the field. The SCI leadership commended SOLO for its strong performance and unwavering commitment to delivering high-impact, community-driven programs that prioritize the rights and best interests of children.

We are deeply grateful for SCI’s authentic partnership and its strategic investment in advancing localization, child protection, and livelihoods support—particularly for foster families and the most vulnerable children.

Together, we remain committed to transforming lives through sustainable, inclusive, and locally-led solutions.
