One week ago we finished our medical camp where we saw over 500 patients!!! We were all exhausted and overwhelmed by the end of the week and also incredibly honored to provide this service to the community. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this camp happen including our local Kenyan team of clinicians and staff, US volunteers, Kenyan volunteers, donors, supporters, well wishers and everyone who sent positive vibes. We couldn’t have done it without you! We are starting to think about medical camp in 2027 - who wants to join us?!?!?

Day five brought the third day of our medical camp. We woke up to find close to 75 people (!!!) had shown up before 7am hoping to get treatment. We were overwhelmed by the turnout and took some time to strategize. We partnered with the county to provide chest x-rays to 80 patients to help diagnose lung infections. Sadly our US volunteers left this afternoon and our local staff did an amazing job providing medical care, education, counseling and medications to 150 patients. We continue to be in awe at the growing turnout each day and feel incredibly blessed and grateful that we have been able to change people’s lives for the better just by providing medical care, support and treatment.

Day four brought the second day of our medical camp. Close to 140 individuals came through our gates looking for care and many more were hoping for services. We offered a fertility clinic where we answered questions about the best time to get pregnant, celebrated a woman who has been trying to get pregnant and found out today that she was, gave away beautiful dresses and bags made by an amazing supporter in the US, offered counseling and eye tests, and gave away so many goodies! We finished with the last patient minutes before we lost power for the evening. We continue to be blown away by the number of people showing up, waiting all day to be seen, and being incredibly grateful for the care we are providing. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow will bring!

Day three brought the first day of our medical camp. We provided free medical care, labs and medications to over 100 patients! We also hosted a celebration for the 16 mothers who were given prenatal care at our clinic in the past year. Patients were given the opportunity for counseling, individual support, medication teaching and management, education, eye exams, and information on family planning. We were exhausted by the end of the day but also energized from all of the gratitude and positive energy the patients brought with them. We are looking forward to tomorrow!

Day two had us partnering with Tiko to offer services to 15-24 year old girls in the community. We provided education on healthy relationships, family planning, menstrual hygiene, and the services that Juani offers. We also spent a lot of time preparing for our medical camp which starts tomorrow! In addition our team visited a few families affected by gender based violence that we have been supporting and empowering for the last year. Also check out the signage that helps people find our clinic!

This week, Juani Medical held a three-day-long training on HIV testing. We are now able to offer this service at the clinic!

Juani's Public Health and Medical Mission Trip is coming up in June! We're looking for NPs, PAs, MDs, and Environmental Health Officers to join our team.

As part of this mission trip, you'll be volunteering at our women's health clinic in Sega, Kenya. There will also be an opportunity for personal travel in Kenya after the mission is complete.

Our nurse, Eunice attended a Multiple Micronutrient Supplement (MMS) Technical Meeting in Nairobi on March 24 hosted by our grantor, Vitamin Angels. She met with industry leaders and technical experts, enabling her to strengthen Juani’s prenatal vitamin distribution program. So far, our project has distributed prenatal vitamins to 120 pregnant and breastfeeding women in Siaya County.
