With youth unemployment a major challenge in Kenya, our partnership with Action Africa Giving Circle is helping young people and women access a different path through practical, hands-on skills that lead to employment and entrepreneurship.

Through LAHI’s Train–Employ–Franchise model, we have supported over 1,500 young people and women through skills training, with many progressing into employment and others building their own businesses.

We have seen this model work, and we are committed to growing it to reach even more people.

At Light and Hope Initiative, we believe that when one life rises, a whole community rises with it.

The internet can open doors. But without the right knowledge, it can also open doors to harm.

As more young people spend time online, risks such as cyberbullying, online abuse, exploitation, and harassment are becoming increasingly important to address. UNICEF identifies online abuse and exploitation as an emerging threat to children in Kenya.

At light and hope initiative , in partnership with local schools in Mathare Valley, we are equipping young people with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the digital world safely, recognize harmful behaviour, speak up, and look out for one another.

But we don't want young people to be only protected from harm. We want them to become part of the solution.

Today’s learners can become tomorrow’s digital safety champions, using their voices and influence to build kinder, safer, and more responsible online spaces.

Safe online. Strong offline. Changemakers for tomorrow.

Today, we wrapped up our 6-day vision screening campaign, reaching communities in Kijauri, Nyamira Methodist Church, and Ekerame.

Together, we screened an incredible 10,865 people, provided 3,626 free prescription glasses, and made 914 referrals for further eye care.

We are deeply grateful to our partners, Anekant Community Centre and Aparigrah Foundation, for making this possible, and to Apiemi Morara Foundation for partnering with us to reach communities across Nyamira.

Nyamira Vision Screening Continues..

Today, we covered four stations: Gachuba Dispensary, Kemera Dispensary, Isinta, and Nyanchonari Dispensary, reaching out to more community members through vision screening and providing free glasses to those who need them.

We continue to create awareness, promote eye health, and make clear vision more accessible to the community.

Nyamira, we are here!

Today, we kick-start our 6-day vision screening campaign in Nyamira County in partnership with Apiemi Morara Foundation.

Together, we are working to bring eye care closer to the people and ensure more members of the community have the chance to see clearly.

🎓 51 graduates. 51 new beginnings. Endless possibilities.

On Saturday, we celebrated 51 graduates who are now equipped with practical skills in photography, graphic design, website development, garment making, beauty and hairdressing, and more—skills that can help them build their futures, pursue opportunities, and create sustainable livelihoods.

As they grow, their families rise. As their families rise, our communities become stronger and better.

A big thank you to Tour camp seven , Nairobi County School Health Programs Coordinator Mr. Mohammed, and Tushinde for gracing the occasion.
