Africa Harvest participated in the EAGC Agribusiness Expo held at Chuka University in Tharaka Nithi County. The event brought together over 1,500 farmers and stakeholders under the theme âClimate-Smart Technologies and Practices for Sustainable Food Systems.â
The expo spotlighted climate-smart solutions that reduce post-harvest losses while improving grain quality, storage, and farmer incomes. Technologies such as hermetic storage systems, tarpaulins, mobile silos, threshers, and shellers demonstrated how innovation can enhance productivity, strengthen market access, and build resilient food systems.
The event was officiated by Prof. Henry Mutembei, Vice Chancellor of Chuka University Official, who underscored the Universityâs role in advancing food loss reduction solutions. He emphasized that Chuka University remains committed to driving agricultural transformation through research, training, and industry partnerships that equip future professionals with market-relevant skills.
The expo aligned with the AGRA RE-GAIN project, implemented by Eastern Africa Grain Council in consortium with Africa Harvest Biotech Foundation International in Embu and Tharaka Nithi Counties, focusing on scaling practical solutions that improve post-harvest management and farmer returns.
Bringing together farmers, researchers, agribusinesses, and development partners, the expo reinforced the critical role of collaboration in scaling impactful, farmer-centered solutions
