The African Arts Trust

The African Arts Trust The African Arts Trust is a charitable trust setup by the collector and philanthropist, Robert Devereux.

The African Arts Trust is a grant making organisation that funds a wide range of projects with an emphasis on grass roots organisations that support professional practicing artists trying to make a livelihood in the visual arts in Africa. The charity (number 1141553) was set up and registered with the Charity Commission on the 21st April 2011, following the successful fundraising auction of Robert

Devereux’s private collection of post-war British art at Sotheby’s, London in November 2010. The trust is based on years of frequent travel to Africa and the recognition that there is a wealth of artistic talent there, which is stifled by the lack of resources available locally to full time artists.
