From graduation to entrepreneurship - this is where real impact begins.

Meet one of the TVET graduates in Dollo Ado who is already putting his tailoring skills to work - turning fabric into income, one stitch at a time.

The Building Opportunities for Resilience in The Horn of Africa Boresha-Nabad programme goes beyond technical training. Through intensive mentorship, practical business coaching, and hands-on guidance, these young entrepreneurs are building sustainable livelihoods in a challenging environment.

Skills into service. Dreams into reality.

A TVET graduate in Dollo Ado applying his plumbing skills to deliver real services to his community.

The Building Opportunities for Resilience in the Horn of Africa (BORESHA-NABAD) program didn’t stop at technical training - it provided business coaching, customer engagement support, and practical guidance to help young graduates turn their skills into viable enterprises.

This is how the programme bridges the gap between training and sustainable self-employment. European Union in Kenya | Danish Refugee Council | RACIDA

Farmers in Fikow are harvesting quality fodder, strengthening livestock value chains, and generating sustainable income for their communities.

Through practical coaching on business planning, collective marketing, and improved production techniques, these groups are reducing their vulnerability to climate shocks and building more resilient enterprises.

These women are rewriting their financial story.

In Dollo Ado, VSLA members, many with low literacy are now confidently managing their savings, separating business and household cash, and tracking every transaction. Through hands-on coaching and simple tools like lockable saving boxes, they’ve moved from survival to building real economic resilience. This is what financial inclusion looks like in fragile borderland communities.

Honored to participate in the Kenya Red Cross Society consultation on Islamic philanthropy and women’s protection, convened under the Making Aid Work for Displaced Women initiative.

The dialogue brought together humanitarian actors, faith-based organisations, researchers, and development partners to strengthen collaboration on more inclusive and locally driven responses for displaced women across East Africa.

As humanitarian needs grow and funding pressures increase, faith-based giving including Islamic philanthropy remains a vital yet under-recognized resource for community resilience.

We welcome the momentum toward a regional working group and stronger evidence-based action.

Across Dollo Ado and Bokolmayo (Mandera Triangle), 325 entrepreneurs are receiving intensive, on-site business coaching under the Building Opportunities for Resilience in The Horn of Africa Boresha-Nabad Programme.

Rather than classroom-based training, mentors work directly at business locations, providing practical, real-time support to strengthen financial management, business planning, loan readiness, market access, financial institution linkages, and overall enterprise growth.

This approach reflects a deliberate shift from β€œtrain and leave” to continuous, walk-with-you mentorship, designed to build lasting business resilience in vulnerable, climate-affected borderland communities.

The BORESHA-NABAD Programme is implemented by a consortium led by the Danish Refugee Council, with RACIDA as a consortium partner. This specific BDS Mentorship & Coaching component is delivered by Shaqodoon under RACIDA’s partnership framework. European Union
