New roads are being constructed everywhere in Kenya, thereby opening up areas to development. Sadly, most of them lack provisions for pedestrians. Inevitably pedestrians make up the bigger percentage in traffic accident injuries and fatalities. I believe road designs have this consideration but it is rarely implemented. This has to change. It is heinous for contractors to ignore this need and government officials to pass such roads as complete. They are death traps and they are everywhere in our beloved nation.

In Genesis 1:31, God looked at everything that He had made and it was good. That environment must have been awesome. A clean and healthy environment is not just a universal and constitutional right, it is essential for good health. Let us do everything we can to make our personal and community environment clean. It is as important as good nutrition, exercising and being at peace with everyone to our well being.

A street alley in one of our big cities. Food next to garbage and waste water!!! But we have become so easy with filth that we enthusiastically buy and eat. This is a sure way to get all manner of stomach ailments. A clean and healthy environment is a universal and constitutional right (Article 42) but we are obligated to keep it that way (Article 69). The law is on our side when this right is violated or threatened (Article 70). We ALL need to do our part in securing the "good" environment that God created and bestowed upon us to take care of. (Genesis 1: 31). Let us all embrace Responsible Environmental Behavior (REB) and spread the message.

A better environment for all!

Article 42 of the constitution of Kenya gives us the right to a clean and healthy environment. In 2022, the UN in a historic move also declared a clean and healthy environment a universal human right. Unfortunately, irresponsible environmental behaviour will be our undoing. As the rain approaches, we can expect all the garbage we have scattered everywhere to be dragged to the rivers, polluting the very water we cannot do without. Additionally, Article 69 of the constitution of Kenya require us to protect and conserve the environment for the good of us all including future generations. We owe it to ourselves to behave responsibly towards our environment.
Let us hold each other accountable in safeguarding our environment.

A bird's eye view of the super efficient transport network at Campus ter or Campus Square. The three Squares are entries into the underground railway station. Above it is a stage for buses and electric trams like the one here. You buy a day's, two weeks' or one month's ticket which you use for all these forms of traffic. They all have a clear map and regular announcements tell you where you are making it easy to find your way. What happened to the similar project that was started on the Thika Super Highway?

A clean healthy environment is a human and constitutional right that everyone including governments in obliged to sustain both for current and future generations. Yet our ears and eyes are bogged with frequent tragedies born of shear neglect of common knowledge and the rule of law. Somebody is responsible for poor or lack of implementation and enforcement of guidelines in our Environment and Management Act (EMCA 1999) as well NEMA's Environmental and Social Impact Assessment. These accidents are too frequent and the losses in human and other resources are unforgivable. Let us play our part in reducing avoidable environmental tragedies. Let us call out whatever is hazardous in our environment and correct whatever we can. It starts with me!

Certificate of recognition in wetland conservation. We need to do more to stop the death of rivers. We need to spread awareness and enforce existing laws against farming along riparian areas.
