This week, we are delighted to welcome our project partners as we come together for an important week of strengthening our partnership, exchanging experiences and ideas, reflecting on our work, and looking ahead to the next steps of the BALL project as we conduct our Training of Trainers (ToT).

We are looking forward to a productive and inspiring week filled with learning, meaningful discussions, new ideas and collaboration — and, of course, plenty of opportunities for young people to connect, share experiences and learn from one another.

A warm welcome to GAME , MIDRIFT HURINET and DUNK-Developing Unity Nurturing Knowledge, we are delighted to have you with us!

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Union (EU) and for their valuable support and contribution towards making the BALL project possible.

Today, we had a very special visitor at the BookHouse. One who apparently couldn’t resist coming to see what all the fuss was about!!!

Perhaps it was the design. Perhaps it was the books. Or perhaps our architecture is simply so inviting that word has travelled all the way from the jungle!!!!

And honestly, we couldn’t think of a more fitting guest. remind us of community, family bonds, togetherness, and looking out for our own. These are values that sit right at the heart of what the BookHouse hopes to be.

So today, we welcomed one more member into the BookHouse community. No membership card required.

Come for the books. Stay for the community. You never know who might drop by!!!!

Tusikize Women Artists for project is about creating space for young women artists from informal settlements to find their voices, nurture their creativity and use art as a tool for connection, dialogue, healing and violence prevention.

Through this participatory workshop, the young women artists are encouraged to share their experiences and perspectives through their creative work, while discovering the power of collaboration, bringing different stories, ideas, styles and talents together to create something meaningful.

A special salute to and for choosing to partner with Amani Kibera to actualize the Tusikize project, as they undertake their final university project and for creating this valuable opportunity for young women artists from informal settlements to grow, learn and express themselves through art.

Every piece has a story. Every artist has a journey. And when they come together, something powerful can emerge.

What a privilege it was to welcome Naomie Maina , author of Taji the Lost Heir, to Amani Kibera over the weekend.

Naomie Maina graciously donated copies of her wonderful book to our community library, and we were deeply inspired not only by her remarkable work, but also by her humility, warmth and spirit of service. She is truly an amazing and humble servant of the literary community, using the power of to help young readers explore , , , and .

Taji The Lost Heir is a particularly special book for us because it speaks so beautifully to readers aged 9–15. We are therefore delighted to be preparing for a special with Naomie, where young readers will have the opportunity to with her, the story, ask questions and share their own .

We can't wait to welcome Naomie Maina Maina back to for what promises to be a meaningful and inspiring conversation around this great book.

At the Amani Kibera , play is just as important as reading.

Play helps children build confidence, creativity, friendships, problem-solving skills and create happy memories.

And when the books are closed, the fun continues!!!! Our outdoor space gives children room to run, play, explore, laugh and simply enjoy being children.

Because childhood is about more than learning from books. It’s about reading, playing, discovering and growing, one happy moment at a time.

We had the privilege of holding auditions for the projecg Call for Artists, bringing together talented women artists from settlements across the Nairobi Metropolitan area. It was inspiring to listen to their stories, creativity and talent. After the auditions, 10 artists have now been selected to be part of the project.

The selected artists will now begin 2 weeks capacity development workshops as they prepare for the Women Artists Peace Concert in October. We are excited to walk with them as they grow their skills, confidence, power and creative voices.

A special appreciation to Marit and John, the students behind this project, who led the auditions and the selection of participants.

Tusikize — every voice deserves to be heard!!!
