Every child deserves a better childhood.

When children are given safe spaces to learn, play, dream and simply be themselves, they gain the confidence to find their voice and the freedom to reach their full potential. Every moment of joy is a reminder that love, care and opportunity can transform lives.

At the Watoto Program, we believe that investing in children means investing in stronger families, healthier communities and a brighter future for all. We are creating environments where children feel seen, valued, protected and empowered.

Together, we are raising a generation that knows they are loved, that their voices matter and that their dreams are worth pursuing. Our hope is that every child grows up surrounded by peace, love and care.

May the Watoto Program continue to inspire hope and transform lives. One child, one family and one community at a time.

"I do not want to be killed because I stole. I do not want to waste my life. I just want to do well in my studies and one day help my family have enough food, send my siblings to school, and help people in need. I just want to be a good person."

These powerful words came from one of our 15 year old Grade 9 student.

Today, we are watching that hope take shape. Our boys have chosen to come together, support one another, and build something bigger than themselves. Through exercise, and shared activities, they are channeling their energy into positive action while strengthening both their bodies and their minds.

They are creating a space where they can process their thoughts, encourage one another, and grow into confident young leaders.

This group is unstoppable. Their laughter is contagious, their creativity is inspiring, and their commitment to lifting one another up reminds us of what is possible when young people are given the opportunity to lead.

Watching them take ownership of their ideas, their space, and their future fills our hearts with hope. This is what community looks like. This is what resilience looks like. Thank you to everyone who supports us. Asanteni sanađź’™

What does it really take to transform a community?

When we educate a child, we empower generations and touch many more lives.

Hear from Brandon as he shares why quality education is the foundation for lasting change.

One child. One opportunity. One community united by hope.

To all our sponsors and donors, ❤️ thank you for making this possible. Your support is giving children in Kibera the opportunity to dream, to live, and to aspire to become today's and tomorrow's leaders, changemakers, and peacemakers.

Asanteni sana. Thank you very much. ❤️

Students who had never considered maritime careers are now asking questions about logistics, marine engineering, navigation, international trade, and supply chain management. They are beginning to see how their studies today can connect to careers that span the globe tomorrow.

For many students, career choices are often limited to the professions they see around them. If they have never met a marine engineer, a ship captain, a logistics specialist, or a maritime lawyer, it is difficult to imagine becoming one.

Craig, Miriam and Kelvin from the Wilhelmsen Manning Office Nairobi have dedicated their time and weekends to engaging and mentoring our youth students in Kibera by introducing them to the vast opportunities within the maritime industry. Students are learning not only about careers at sea and onshore but also about the subjects, skills, and educational pathways required to pursue them.

By opening their eyes to new possibilities, they are helping to shape a generation of young people who are better informed, more confident, and better prepared to pursue their dreams.

Opening doors to a world of opportunity. Because sometimes the most powerful form of mentorship is simply helping a young person see a future they never knew was possible.

Education should never depend on a parent’s ability to pay school fees. Yet for many children living in underserved communities, poverty continues to stand between them and their dreams.

At our school, every day is an opportunity to learn, and build a brighter future. Behind every classroom is a dedicated team working tirelessly to restore hope, protect dignity, and create opportunities for children who deserve a fair chance at life.

We believe that when you educate one child, you uplift an entire family, strengthen a community, and transform a generation. Change may not happen through one person alone, but together, we can change the world for one child at a time.

When we come together as a community, we light the world with magic. For every child we educate, we empower our community to stand for itself and create hope for families to have a better future.

Listen to Mercy (16) and Reagan (14), our two Grade 9 students with dreams of becoming environmental journalists, as they tell the story of what it means to have a better, cleaner, and healthier environment. They carry an important message that we should all listen to, bringing our attention to what is happening around us and reminding us that we must stand up and protect our environment.

Our school recently hosted an academic day where parents joined their children to see what they have been learning and achieving at school. We are making it our priority to keep our parents closely informed and involved in every part of their child’s journey. Together, we are protecting their childhood and building their future. Our promise to our students is simple: a safe place to learn and a supportive hand to hold. By staying connected with their parents, we ensure that every child feels valued and protected, both in school and at home.

Allowing children to simply be children is at the heart of what we do. By creating spaces where they feel seen, heard, and valued, we give them the freedom to grow into the best versions of themselves. In doing so, we nurture their confidence, encourage their self expression, and inspire a strong sense of hope for the future. 🌱✨

Met Victor and Bernard, two bright minds in Grade Eight at our sponsorship school, full of big dreams and even bigger energy. They love dancing and bring joy to everyone around them, and this week they would like to share that same energy with you.

Weekends at The Watoto Library are special ✨

In Kibera, where many families still lack access to televisions and digital devices, our library becomes a window to the world.

Every weekend, we gather our children to watch movies, animations, wildlife documentaries, and stories about different countries and cultures. Through one shared screen, they explore oceans, forests, cities, and communities far beyond their surroundings. They learn by seeing, by listening, and by imagining what is possible.

We believe education goes beyond books and classrooms. It also lives in storytelling, curiosity, laughter, and shared experiences.

These moments keep our children engaged, inspired, and away from harmful and unproductive activities. As much as we champion academics, we also create space for joy, excitement, and safe childhood memories.

Because every child deserves not only to learn but to experience happiness.
