👉🏽 The first entry point into the formal world through unpaid internships doesn’t just teach job readiness; it opens up new horizons/ gives youth the ability to dream.

🤝 An 18-yr old in Kenya posted, after their first internship at a power plant, that they aspire to own one someday. Others, after stints in premium hotels, want to become chefs/ those in construction sites want to become managers. Possibilities they wouldn’t have considered earlier!

✅ That’s the quiet power behind , the digital platform Pratham International launched to open doors to these internships at the click of a button. Youth are connected to round-the-clock counsellors, live vacancies, and AI tools for job-prep. In its first leg since launch, NexTayari has facilitated 1,000+ youth into formal on-the-job attachments across industries: power, hospitality, beauty, construction, and more.

❓ What does it take for a young person to successfully transition from the classroom to the workplace in a rapidly changing economy?

👉🏽 Every year, 300,000 young people enrol in Kenya’s TVETs with a clear goal: to learn and to earn. Yet the systemic reality is challenging. One in four young people nationwide remain excluded from both education and employment.

🤝 To help bridge this gap, public vocational education is evolving with Pratham International. Across 10 county governments in Kenya, the initiative is advancing through three core pillars:

1️⃣ Competency-based Learning: Shifting towards practical, gamified skill-building modules.
2️⃣ Digitised Classrooms: Enhancing learning by equipping teachers with interactive digital tools.
3️⃣ Dual Mentorship & Market Placement: Combining AI-driven readiness tools with human career counsellors who map industry demand and connect young people directly to employment opportunities.

As they build technical, digital, and workplace-ready skills through practical learning and mentorship, they are preparing for a shared future while creating new opportunities for themselves and inspiring others in their communities.

🔔 We are pleased to share that Pratham is featured in the AI Impact Casebook in Education, one of six national AI knowledge compendiums unveiled by the Government of India at the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

👉🏽 The case study highlights two of our AI-enabled solutions:

1️⃣ PadhAI: Designed to strengthen foundational literacy and enable meaningful formative assessment in multilingual, low-resource classrooms.

2️⃣ Anytime Testing Machine (ATM): Designed to support learning pathways by generating curriculum-aligned tests and personalised feedback—anytime, anywhere, and for anyone.
