TBA Foundation is an organization that raises public awareness on the poor health, economic and social impact of TB, and strive to end TB epidemic in Kenya.
Each year, World Tuberculosis (TB) commemorated on March 24 to raise public awareness about TB however, this is not enough to combat this deadliest infection. To facilitate better awareness of this killer infection, TBA Foundation was formed.
According to CDC, TB remains the global killer infectious. Despite TB being preventable and curable disease, about 4500 people die every day and approximately 30,000 people contract TB. Research has shown that with proper TB awareness from the ground, we will be able to save millions of people globally. To achieve this, TB Awareness Foundation Kenya is tasked at making sure people understand and prevent themselves from getting TB. Also, it makes sure those suspicious cases are screened and treated accordingly if they are found with disease.
With regard to World TB Day Theme of 2019 ‘It’s time’ for us to act to: scale up access to prevention and treatment; build accountability; ensure sufficient and sustainable financing including for research; promote an end to stigma and discrimination, and promote an equitable, rights-based and people-centered TB response.
