Action for Refugee Life(AREL) is a community-based organization initiated in 2022 specifically to build a footpath to a Sustainable and Self-Reliant Future for the refugee community.

We are currently renovating our workspace at the AReL Tech HUB Center to create a more conducive, effective, and inspiring environment for innovation and growth where our talents will be working, executing, and completing their day-to-day tasks.

We successfully conducted our Computer Repair and Maintenance Bootcamp at the 𝗔𝗥𝗲𝗟 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗛𝗨𝗕.

At AReL: Action for Refugee Life, we go beyond software, systems, and AI tools by equipping our alumni with practical skills in computer maintenance and repair.

During the bootcamp, participants learned to diagnose and troubleshoot laptop issues, install operating systems, remove viruses, and understand the basics of hardware through real-world practice. They can now confidently handle basic repairs and explore opportunities in freelancing, technical support, and IT roles.

We are envisioning a future where Kakuma Refugee Camp grows into a small Silicon Valley, filled with a strong pool of talented and skilled individuals. We believe that we cannot call ourselves tech experts or deliver meaningful impact without the right skills, and that is why we are committed to training and empowering our community.

We are proud to spotlight our MERN Full Stack alumnus, Chan Miabek Jak Mabiak from South Sudan, who joined last year and successfully completed the MERN Full Stack Development course.

He recently presented his project, the Royal Hotel Management System, a cloud-based web application designed to modernize hospitality operations by bringing booking, payments, and management into one platform. It enables guests to search hotels with real-time pricing, supports multiple payment options including M-Pesa, Stripe, and PayPal, and automates room availability to prevent double booking.

The system also includes role-based dashboards where partners can manage listings and track performance, while administrators oversee operations and reporting. Built with Django and PostgreSQL, it is designed for reliability, security, and scalability.

This project addresses common industry challenges such as manual errors, limited payment options, and fragmented systems by providing a centralized and efficient solution.

We’re proud to celebrate 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗸, one of our talented students from the Digital Marketing and E-commerce course, for successfully presenting her capstone project. after completing the six-month course.

Her project, Achuor Crochet, is a creative handmade brand focused on designing and producing unique crocheted clothing and accessories. It blends creativity, craftsmanship, and digital marketing to deliver stylish, high-quality products tailored to customer needs.

Beyond fashion, Achuor’s work reflects a deeper purpose. It promotes sustainable fashion, empowers creativity, and builds a strong online presence to reach a wider audience. Her project demonstrates not only technical skills but also entrepreneurial vision and passion.

We are proud to highlight the achievement of our student, Madut Mam Moses.

Madut successfully completed the Digital Marketing and E-commerce program at AReL: Action for Refugee Life, where he built a strong foundation in digital skills and practical tools for today’s market.

Following his training and the skills he acquired, he secured a web design internship with Kiza Action Limited. During this opportunity, he worked on a project-based contract to design a website for LIFT COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION (RLO).

Using WordPress and Elementor, Madut developed a functional and user-friendly website that meets the needs of the organization and strengthens its online presence.

We are proud to celebrate the incredible journey of our student, Fatiha Abdo.

Fatiha Abdo joined in January 2025, where she began her learning path with Digital Marketing and E-commerce for six months. Building on that strong foundation, she successfully advanced into MERN Stack Development and has now completed the program with an impressive final project.

𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁: 𝗘-𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲
Using MongoDB, Express, React, and Node.js, Fathia designed and developed a fully functional platform that addresses real community challenges.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱:
Many people face difficulties when ordering from shops due to distance, time constraints, or inconvenience.

𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
A seamless online ordering system that allows users to order desserts remotely, save time and transportation costs, and avoid the hassle of visiting physical shops.

This project reflects not only her technical skills but also her ability to think critically and create solutions that make everyday life easier.

This course will help you learn important digital skills such as:
