Seven years ago, Nairobi Feline Sanctuary was created because cats in need had nowhere to go.
Since then, hundreds of cats have passed through our doors. Many arrived injured, abandoned, sick, or simply unwanted. They found safety, food, medical care, and a second chance.
But over the years, we've learned an important lesson:
We cannot rescue our way out of a cat overpopulation crisis.
For every cat we save, many more are born on the streets.
That is why our work is evolving.
Today, alongside caring for our resident cats, we are investing heavily in Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and our Paka Mkazi programme—creating communities where cats are protected, sterilised, and welcomed rather than displaced.
Every cat prevented from being born into suffering matters.
Every hotel, business, and community that embraces humane cat management becomes part of the solution.
The future of animal welfare is not just rescue.
It is prevention.
Seven years in, our commitment remains the same: creating a kinder world for cats.
