Throwback Thursday 📸 | Day of the African Child – 16 June 2026 💚
The International Day of the African Child was commemorated at Karu Primary and Junior School, bringing together students, educators, parents, Chiefs, representative of the area MCA, various NGOs lead by Women for Women Alliance , and members of the security sector to mark this important occasion.
The day traces back to 16th June 1976, when school children in Soweto, South Africa, stood up against inequality in education—a powerful moment that continues to inspire the protection and promotion of children’s rights across Africa.
This year's theme, "Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa," highlights the importance of clean water, safe sanitation, and proper hygiene for every child’s health, dignity, and future.
