Violent extremism continues to undermine peace, security, and development; especially within Kenya’s marginalized communities where youth are most vulnerable. Recognizing the critical role of local administrators in early detection and prevention, CoP-K convened a 2-days workshop at The Waterbuck hotel in Nakuru County to co-develop from a zero draft practical handbook for guiding Chiefs in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) and Peacebuilding.

The handbook will equip chiefs in their engagement with local actors through provision of context-specific tools and strategies to address root causes of radicalization and foster sustainable peace from the ground up, solidifying the nexus between PCVE and community-led peacebuilding efforts.

The initiative brought together 2 Chiefs in Nakuru County alongside key stakeholders from the National Counter Terrorism Centre - Kenya , National Cohesion and Integration Commission, Steerring Committee on Peacebuilding, Ministry of Interior and National Administration , Kenya School of Government, Benefit Organisations like Usalama Watch, Expert in Political Science; peacebuilding and PCVE, and Community Policing Forum.
