To our volunteer teacher who showed up every day this holiday — THANK YOU!

Mr. Clinton Omboro has been selflessly offering free holiday tuition to our Form 4 candidates preparing for their KCSE exams in November 2026 at the Hope and Dignity Kenya Mathare Community Center Library.

It is important to mention that Mr Clinton who is a trained teacher was a beneficiary 4 years ago of free holiday tuition offered by Mr. Peter Peter Ptah

We also wish all the best to our members/students as they go back to school for the Third Term 2026

In the Month of June, a total of 791 people visited our library. The number is high because of the collaboration between Mathare Community Center Library and surrounding schools.

We are experiencing violent protests in Mathare- Kiamaiko. This has disrupted activities at Mathare Community Center Library
We urge our members and volunteers to keep safe always as we join other members of the community in finding a solution to the current problem.
Keep safe please 🙏🏿

*Empowering the Next Generation of Girls 💜*

Last week we reached 20 adolescent girls at a local Secondary School in Mathare for a mentorship session on Sexual & Reproductive Health.

Facilitated by a trained mentor from *Hope and Dignity Kenya - Mathare Community Center Library*, the girls had open, age-appropriate conversations on:
1. *Puberty & body changes* - understanding what’s normal
2. *Menstrual health & hygiene* - dignity, not shame
3. *Self-esteem* - “I am more than my body”
4. *Personal safety* - boundaries and speaking up
5. *Healthy relationships* - respect starts young
6. *Informed decision-making* - their future, their choice

When girls have facts + confidence, they stay in school, stay safe, and dream bigger.

This is how we build healthy, informed communities - one girl at a time.

_Because every girl deserves knowledge, dignity, and choice._

Our organization is choosing to be part of the solution towards this troubling trend in Kenyan Schools.

We cannot lose more lives in schools again.

We are designing a dialogue program in schools to help manage the conflicts

At Mathare Community Center Library we serve over 200 pupils and students from the Non-Formal Schools surrounding the Center.
These schools don't have libraries or computer labs, we have therefore partnered with them to allow their pupils to use our Center for Library and Computer sessions

We continue thanking all our supporters especially Bildung fördert Entwicklung e.V. because your support keeps many pupils and students in school and makes there studies worthy

*Empowering Girls Through Mentorship 💜✨*

Today at Hope and Dignity Kenya – Mathare Community Center Library, we held a special mentorship session for girls aged 13 to 18 years.
The session was attended by 34 girls

The program focused on:
- Sexual & reproductive health education– giving girls accurate information to make safe, informed choices
- Hygiene education– building confidence and self-care practices
- Life skills & open dialogue – creating a safe space to ask questions and share

Each participant also received a dignity pack with essential hygiene supplies to support them through the month in school.

To our donors and volunteers — asanteni sana! Your generosity and time made this possible. Because of you, girls in Mathare are staying in school with dignity, confidence, and knowledge.

Together, we’re raising a generation of strong, informed young women.

Holiday Fun at the Library! 🎲♟️

School’s out, but learning and laughter continue at Hope and Dignity Kenya - Mathare Community Center Library!

Students on holiday are enjoying indoor board games — chess, scrabble, ludo, and more. Beyond the fun, these games build critical thinking, patience, teamwork, and social skills. It’s amazing to see the energy, focus, and friendships growing across the boards.

A special thank you to our donors and volunteers — your support keeps this space safe, active, and full of opportunities for our young people. Because of you, holidays mean growth, not idleness.

Karibuni to visit, play, or volunteer with us!

Empowering Scholars Through Mentorship 💡🤝

Our mentorship program for students under the Hope and Dignity Kenya Scholarship Program is currently underway at the Mathare Community Center Library!

The sessions focus on:
- Team building activities – building trust, leadership, and collaboration
- Life skills training – confidence, communication, decision-making, and goal setting
- Basic computer training – giving our scholars digital skills for school and beyond

We believe education goes beyond the classroom. By investing in mentorship, we’re helping these young people grow into skilled, confident, and responsible leaders.

Thank you to our mentors, facilitators, and partners walking this journey with our scholars!
