At Solar Mtaani, our students are preparing to put their knowledge and practical skills to the test in solar PV technology. From understanding solar systems and electrical connections to the hands-on work they have done throughout their training, these exams are an important step toward becoming qualified solar energy technicians.

We have seen the early mornings, the practical sessions, the questions, the mistakes and the learning. Now it’s time to trust the work they have put in. Real learning happens when students step beyond the classroom and experience the industry for themselves.

As part of our commitment to developing skilled solar professionals, Solar Mtaani organized an educational field visit to Megawatt Solar Company. The visit gave our students the opportunity to explore the latest solar technologies and products currently shaping Kenya's renewable energy market while interacting with professionals who work with these systems every day.

Throughout the visit, the students were taken through different product lines, learned how technology in the solar sector continues to evolve, and received practical advice on the knowledge, attitude, and professionalism needed to build successful careers in clean energy. These conversations helped bridge the gap between classroom training and the realities of the workplace, giving our trainees a clearer picture of the opportunities available in the industry.

At Solar Mtaani, we believe that training goes beyond teaching technical skills. We create opportunities for our students to connect with industry leaders, experience real working environments, and build relationships that prepare them for employment and entrepreneurship in the renewable energy sector. Every field visit is an important step in producing graduates who are confident, industry-ready, and equipped to drive Kenya's transition to clean energy.

Training is only the beginning. The real journey starts when women leave the classroom and step into the marketplace.

Through the Solar Mtaani Dala Edition in Kisumu, we believe that technical skills alone are not enough. Alongside solar installation training, participants also learn practical business skills such as marketing, customer service, pricing, and sales. These lessons give them the confidence to turn their knowledge into a reliable source of income.

To keep the momentum going after graduation, the women created Solar Divas—a network built on collaboration, growth, and shared success. Together, they promote and sell solar products within their communities while using table banking to save regularly, access affordable loans, and reinvest in their businesses.

Solar Divas is more than a business group. It is a community of women who motivate one another, exchange ideas, overcome challenges together, and celebrate every milestone. By working as a team, they are proving that success grows stronger when it is shared.

Every solar product they install or sell does more than provide clean, reliable energy. It creates income, strengthens families, supports children's education, and helps women build businesses that can sustain them for years to come.

When women are equipped with technical knowledge, business skills, and the support of a strong network, they become powerful drivers of change. They don't just light homes—they create opportunities, inspire others, and contribute to stronger, more resilient communities.

Training alone is not enough. For many women, the biggest challenge begins after the training ends—finding a way to earn an income from the skills they have learned.

That is why our Dala Edition in Kisumu goes beyond teaching solar technology. We also help participants understand the basics of sales, customer service, and how to grow a small business. Knowing how to install a solar system is important, but knowing how to find customers and sell solar products is what creates lasting opportunities.

To support each other after the training, the women formed a group called Solar Divas. Through this group, they work together to sell solar products in their communities while using table banking to save money, access small loans, and invest back into their businesses.

This has created more than just a business group. It has become a support system where women encourage one another, share ideas, solve challenges together, and celebrate every achievement, no matter how small.

Every solar lamp, home system, or clean energy product they sell brings light to another family. At the same time, it helps the women earn an income, support their households, pay school fees, and build businesses they can be proud of.

When women have the right skills, the confidence to sell, and a strong network behind them, they don't just change their own lives—they help transform their entire community.

That is the vision behind Solar Divas: women creating opportunities for themselves while bringing clean, affordable energy closer to the people who need it most.

At Solar Mtaani, we believe that when young people gain practical skills, they gain the confidence to build a better future for themselves and their communities. Through our solar PV training, mentorship, and hands-on experience, we are equipping young women and men with the knowledge they need to access employment, start businesses, and contribute to Kenya's clean energy future.

Every graduate represents more than a certificate—they represent hope, resilience, and the courage to create change. As we mark World Youth Skills Day, we celebrate all our trainees, alumni, trainers, and partners who continue to prove that investing in skills is investing in people.

We were honored to host the Solafrica team during their visit to our Solar Mtaani – Pwani Edition training at NITA Mombasa.

The visit was a great opportunity for our women trainees to interact with the team, share their learning experiences, and showcase the practical skills they have been building throughout the program. From solar system installation to safety procedures and hands-on technical work, the trainees demonstrated their growing confidence and commitment to building careers in the renewable energy sector.

These moments are important because they go beyond the classroom. They encourage, inspire, and remind our students that they are supported by organizations that believe in their potential. Seeing partners take the time to meet them motivates the trainees to keep learning, work harder, and dream bigger.

At Solar Mtaani, we believe that empowering women with technical skills is one of the best ways to create stronger families, resilient communities, and a cleaner future. Every woman trained is another step towards closing the gender gap in the energy sector while increasing access to meaningful employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Our trainees stepping onto an active installation site fully geared up, ready to transform the knowledge they've gained in the classroom into practical, hands-on experience. Every helmet worn, every safety check completed, every cable connected, and every solar panel installed is another step toward becoming skilled renewable energy professionals.

At Solar Mtaani, we believe that real impact is built through experience.
