Earlier this week, we paid a courtesy visit to the for a political education session on the history of Kenya. 🇰🇪 Ukombozi Library

It was an insightful and eye-opening experience, a chance to reflect on where we've come from as a nation, the struggles that shaped our democracy, and the lessons that continue to guide us today.

Understanding our history isn't just about the past; it's about knowing who we are and where we're going. Grateful to the Centre for hosting us and to everyone who made the session so engaging.

On 14th and 15th Together with Kenya Community Development Forum (KCDF), Africa Policing Civilian Oversight Forum (APCOF), Independent Policing and Oversight Authority (IPOA) And CHRIPS we participated in a Action oriented Monitoring training at Davana hotel.

We were able to go through IPOA regulations 106 which talks about Community centered monitoring to promote citizen involvement, practability of Monitoring amongst others.

THE MOVEMENT IS RE-ENERGIZED!

In the heart of Mukuru, we gathered for a Baseline Assessment Meeting on strengthening grassroots civic space, digital spaces, and movement resilience in Kenya. This was not just a meeting. This was a convergence of warriors, storytellers, and architects of change.

Through Kayole Community Justice Center. Mukuru Community Justice Center Social Justice Travelling Theatre, Ngong Social Justice Center CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation Civic Creators, Artists, Photographers, Citizen Journalists, Content Creators, and Human Rights Defenders, we are building something unstoppable.

This project is aimed at one thing: Re-energizing the power of the SOCIAL JUSTICE MOVEMENT towards building PEOPLE POWER FROM BELOW!

We are strengthening our civic spaces. We are protecting our digital spaces. We are building resilience. We are using theatre to educate, photography to capture truth, journalism to amplify voices, and art to ignite fires that no system can extinguish.

The Social Justice Movement is ALIVE, CREATIVE, and GROWING!

The foundation is set. We organize. Now we rise. Now we build PEOPLE POWER FROM BELOW! @

*Digital assemblies Transformation*
Exhibition and learning Exchange
This was more than an exhibition but a space to confront, reflect, and reimagine Kenya's digital civic space.

The Digital Assemblies Exhibition brought together art, history, civic participation, and digital rights to explore the realities shaping Kenya's digital civic space, from surveillance, censorship, and restrictive legislation to technology-facilitated violence and the growing use of digital platforms for organizing.

The exhibition featured powerful photos from past social justice movements, contemporary artworks from various artists, history books, and merchandise spanning 2018 to date weaving together Kenya's historical struggles and its present-day fight for digital freedoms.

But it was also a celebration of resilience. Young people, activists, artists, digital storytellers, and community organizers came together to show how technology and creative expression can advance justice, accountability, and democratic participation.

The exhibition aimed to:
🔹 Create a platform for artists, activists, and creatives to express ideas around justice, freedom, and digital rights.
🔹 Connect Kenya's historical struggles with today's challenges in physical and digital spaces.
🔹 Promote awareness of civic rights and constitutional freedoms.
🔹 Encourage young people to engage in conversations on governance, democracy, and social change both online and physical.
🔹 Showcase creative approaches to civic engagement and digital organizing.
🔹 Create opportunities for community members to share their experiences and perspectives.

The broader goal? To contribute to resilient, inclusive, and secure Digital Assemblies by empowering activists, creatives, influencers, citizen journalists, and digital storytellers to build counter-power and defend civic freedoms. CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation
