We rescued Dinilla when she was 10 yrs old, being prepared to become somebody's wife .Never having stepped in a class, touched a book or spoken any other language other than her mother tongue, she started from scratch but her grit , her love for storybooks has grown and it shows. It is a pleasure to witness and we love her stories😊.

There is an estimated four million pastoralist children in the Horn of Africa, living in water-scarce arid and semi-arid areas, characterized by poor roads , communication infrastructure , few investments , limited education opportunities because there are no physical structures, lack of basic services and detrimental cultural practices. Solutions for the pastoralist child are challenging but not impossible. At Tenda Wema, we believe in finding solutions, one child at a time, one community at a time. Did you know in least developing countries 30% of the children's population are engaged in Child labour?
In Kenya , according to the Kenya Bureau of Statistics , 1.9 Million children aged 5-17yrs are working for pay or family gain.
This is one of the major reasons Tenda Wema is all about creation of more Safe and Protective Spaces (SPS) for Children. They play critical roles in the Child Protection System offering physical safety, meeting basic needs, essential health services and psychosocial support.
