Accelerating the introduction and adoption of health innovations is critical in strengthening disease detection, improving access to care, and saving lives.
Innovations such as portable diagnostics, AI-enabled screening tools, decentralized testing, and digital health solutions have the potential to transform healthcare delivery by bringing services closer to communities, reducing delays in diagnosis, and supporting faster, evidence-based decision-making.
Continued collaboration, investment in innovation, and strengthened health systems remain important in supporting the effective uptake and integration of new health technologies across different levels of care.
Timely access to innovation can contribute to earlier diagnosis, improved service delivery, and better health outcomes for communities.

Earlier this morning, the ALIGN Kenya Project team held a consultative meeting with the CEO of the
Digital Health Agency - Kenya, Eng. Anthony Lenaiyara to discuss opportunities for collaboration around health innovation introduction, digital health systems including the upcoming Kenya Market Intelligence Hub, and evidence-informed decision-making.

The discussions focused on strengthening partnerships in advancing digital health solutions, improving access to local data for health product prioritization, and exploring the vision for the digital health innovation hub that can support faster uptake of innovations within Kenya’s health system.

The engagement also highlighted the importance of interoperability, research, certification frameworks, and building stronger connections between innovators, government, and health systems to ensure digital solutions are responsive, scalable, and impactful.

We look forward to continued collaboration through Whole of Government TWG in shaping a more connected, data-driven, and innovation-friendly health ecosystem in Kenya.

When countries collaborate on health, innovation moves faster and impact reaches further. It enables the sharing of digital health systems, real-time data, and early warning tools that can detect outbreaks before they spread. It also strengthens how countries use technology to improve service delivery, track diseases, and make faster, evidence-based decisions.
For communities, this translates into earlier diagnosis, quicker response to health emergencies, better coordinated care across borders, and more reliable access to essential services. Health innovations become more effective when they are shaped through shared experience and collective action.

At the heart of deciding which health innovation to introduce in a country is one key element —data. The launch today by the Ministry of Health, Keprecon and
Duke Global Health Innovation Center Intelligence Hub brings this to life.

The Hub is designed to support smarter, faster, and more evidence-informed decisions in the prioritization, introduction and scale-up of health products. It brings together data across key health areas, including HIV, malaria, TB, NCDs, and RMNCAH, allowing stakeholders to assess and compare innovations through a structured scoring system. By focusing on aggregated, product-level data, the Hub ensures that decisions are guided by evidence while maintaining data privacy.

A defining feature of the Hub is its bi-directional approach, where global insights inform country priorities and country-level data feeds back into the global platform. This creates a continuous cycle of learning, strengthening how innovations are evaluated and adopted across different contexts.

Discussions during the session highlighted the importance of moving beyond data to real-world impact. There was strong emphasis on building the capacity of policymakers and health systems to use such tools effectively, ensuring readiness through updated guidelines, skilled health workers, and supportive regulatory environments. Participants also highlighted the need to elevate locally developed innovations and align the platform with national processes such as Health Technology Assessment to accelerate decision-making.

A mother takes her child to the clinic for routine immunization, just as her own mother once did for her. Different times, different challenges, but the same goal: protection.
Vaccines quietly do their job, preventing illness before it begins and giving every child a healthier start in life. Across communities, this simple act continues to save millions of lives every year.
