Today, 9th December 2025, PanAfricare Kenya had the privilege of joining Day 1 of the International Conference on Environment and Climate-Induced Migration in Jigjiga, Somali Region. Organized by Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network and funded by the European Union through International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) , this conference provides a critical platform for evidence generation, policy dialogue, and collective action on climate-related mobility challenges in the Horn of Africa.

Day 1 featured insightful presentations and papers shared by researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, offering valuable evidence and perspectives on the complex linkages between climate change, conflict, and population movement. These discussions not only deepened our understanding but also highlighted opportunities for strengthened collaboration and informed decision-making.

PanAfricare Kenya is proud to be part of this important conversation and remains committed to contributing to evidence-driven solutions that support resilient and adaptive communities.

We’re excited to have been featured on KBC Channel 1 TV News highlighting our Media Training on Climate Change and Mobility held in Turkana County under the MECMEA Project, funded by the European Union (EU) through the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD). 🌍

The training brought together journalists and media practitioners to strengthen their capacity to report accurately and sensitively on issues at the intersection of climate change, conflict, and human mobility. By empowering local media, the MECMEA Project seeks to enhance awareness, amplify community voices, and promote evidence-based dialogue for sustainable solutions in Eastern Africa.

👏 We appreciate the collaboration of the County Government of Turkana, media partners, and all participants who made this initiative impactful.

PanAfricare was honored to engage with Dr. Selly Kimosop, Environment Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, in a thoughtful discussion on the Project.

Dr. Selly Kimosop shared valuable insights on climate resilience, mobility, and environmental policy that will directly inform and strengthen our implementation of the project across Eastern Africa. Her support underscores the importance of aligning civil society efforts with national climate and environmental strategies.

At PanAfricare, we believe that collaboration with government stakeholders like the Ministry is key to driving meaningful, long-lasting impact in climate mobility governance.
The project is funded by European Union through International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD)
